Pascal,
Simply a tremendous paint job. The paint chipping while more then I personally would have done, looks both realistic, and in areas that would have seen that type of wear and tear.

The overall effect of your paint application is a nearly perfect weathered and worn aircraft, that was exposed to the heat, humidity, and salt air conditions of the Pacific.

Thank you!

Paint work is still progressing

The biggest are cut to avoid too much carrier film:

Decals will also be "weathered".

More soon.

Pascal,
Your decaling is really coming out quite nice. Not a drop of silvering on any of those stencils. One thing that I did notice as I kept on looking at your pictures, is that you're applying full stencils on top of surface areas where you have the paint worn off. In actuality, the stencil should have been worn off before or at the same time as the underlying paint.

Some discussions by various crew chiefs and crew members all say that when most of the minor stencils wore off, they never repainted them, as it took too much time, and the stencils were irrelevant to start with, as they already knew where most things were located.

Gorgeous looking build.

Hi,

Thanks!
A pity that Aeromaster are not available any more...

Small update on the Grey part.
Mask off and first Weathering steps

Just oils Gris de Payne + Ultramarine deep and Burnt Sienna.

Without Patafix:

Need to repair a "f#@~%" mistake.
Quickly done... maybe to quickly, so...
But still naked...

More soon.

Pascal,
Your weathering, especially on those sections on the bottom is just incredible. One question. Why the bare metal section? Is that meant to be a replacement patch, as I don't recall seeing it on any other F4U-1?

Hi,

Thanks Joel.
The alu patch is just here to fix a mistake I made...
So I cut and glue those two alu panels to hide it.
They now need to be painted.

Pascal,
They look really good. Too good to just be a temp patch. Maybe you should leave it as is.

I like this idea, it has a nice texture to it, I'd be tempted to leave it, let it tell a story.
