Wad_ware - As much as I'd like to take credit, the catapult is part of the kit.

Chuck, that is going to look mighty fine, sat on that catapault. I think float planes look best either shown on water or a catapault

Disaster on the home front. Spilled a bottle of liquid glue and the bomb bay cover for my Grace ended up in the middle of the puddle. Hopefully it will dryout and be able to be sanded. If not, a diffent kit..Jarhead

CRS : your plane is looking great !
jarhead :sorry for your accident ! Is it only the bay doors that have suffered ? Would you be able to replace them with plasticard ? Good luck !

Here we go with my first update with pictures !
both airframes :
KI-61 :
KI-43 :
I'm sorry for the low quality of the last picture.
All the info I've found s far seems to indicate that Ki-61's cockpits weren't painted aotake blue nor bamboo but brownish yellow... so that's what I chose.
Now I can add instrument panels and close both aicraft.

Looking good so far Penpen
Two aircraft at the same time...wow...if that were me, it would be my luck get all the parts switched around and come out with some really weird looking aircrafts

The yellowish brown paint comes from a humbrol paint jar... the color seemed pretty close to that visible on the box art (a beautiful one from Shigeo Koike). In the pictures, it looks darker han in real life.

Anyone tell me what the interior color was of a KI-84 Frank. Tamiya says black. Also, Were all aircraft fitted with just one sholder strap. Thanks JARHEAD
