Well Joel she has her colours !
Kicking the airbrush into over time the camo is applied .
I started off with Tamiya light blue XF-23( RLM 65) thinned with Tamiya lacquer thinner ( love this stuff ) Fuselage sides I mask off and sprayed the RLM 02 using Tamiya XF-22 lightened with a touch of flat white XF-2 . This was masked off and RLM 71 ( Tamiya XF-27 mixed with a touch of white XF-2 )as well as the molting on the fuselage sides . More masking and the yellow was sprayed ( Tamiya XF-3 with a dab of red XF-3
The spinner base is sprayed with Tamiya black X-1 . Prop got sprayed Tamiya XF-27 for the black green while the spinner is sprayed XF-2 white
Rest of the parts are painted minus the exhaust which still needs it's paint .

Terri,
Outstanding painting effort. Your pre-shading just comes through ever so softly, doing what it's supposed to do, add some color modulation from the elements.
Just a suggestion for down the road. I've stopped using XF-1 Black for any outside surfaces, preferring XF-69 Nato Black instead. It has that more of a scale tonnage to it.
As for thinning Tamiya paints, I completely agree with your assessment of their Yellow Cap Lacquer Thinner. It's fantastic. I use it on all outside color surfaces. I still use their X20-A for interior painting (still have another full 250ml container to use), and thinning Polymer acrylic paints. Will be trying the Yellow Cap on Lifecolor as I'm pretty sure I'll be moving in that direction so I don't constantly have to pre-mix bottles of Tamiya paint. Guess you can say that I'm getting lazy in my old age.

Hi Terri
Looking really neat.
I actually just use straight cellulose (lacquer) thinners from the hardware store for Tamiya paints - it thins beautifully and gives an extra "bite" when airbrushed (don't brush paint it though).
All the best

Great work Terri, its really starting to come together.
I don't use Tamiya paints as much as I used too, but I always thinned with their thinners, I use Vallejo Model Air nowadays, as I'm lazy and its pretty much ready to use .

Thanks guy's !
I'm almost finished with the clear coating with future . One more on the underside and she is ready for decals and the smaller bits .
I only use acrylic now . The shops here , all of them pretty much carry Tamiya products and are easy to get . Same can be said for Vallejo and I found a shop which carry's the full range of the model air . Been wanting to try these for the longest time so I will be getting some and giving them a go .

Decaling is now finished . There is a fair number to apply and I did this in two sections to make it easier and give time for the first round amble time to dry .
They do snuggle down quit well and haven't had the need for any decal solutions so far . Once all is fully dry a double check to make sure all the decals are snuggled down into all that fine rivet detail .

Terri, youve done a fine job on this 109, your paint work is especially clean and the decals look to have worked great. I really wish eduard had done a better job with the sand filter, they did provide an extra instrument panel for use without etch. Still its a nice kit definitely a good value in this boxing. Keep up the great work!

Terri,
Very nice job on the decals. I'm assuming that they were made by Cartograf as they snuggled down without setting solutions. Now that's something I've never tried.

Thanks Mike and Joel
Mike , yes this is area which Eduard could have beefed up the sand filter on the cowl . Even decals for the screens would have been better than nothing . Other than that no cripes really . It has been a very enjoyable build so far .
Joel , No . The decals are made by Eduard themselves . There was a few spots ( National markings ) which needed just a bit .
A bit more was done over the weekend . Rest of the parts got fixed in place and everything got it's dull coat ready for a bit of pastel work .
I used a different product for the wash this time around .
Still a pigment though . The product is called Quartermaster's Depot pigment powder 10009 Ivory Black . This is a very fine powder and works very well for a wash . I mix it the same as if I was using pastel chalk . Water , just a very small drop of dish soap and then the pigment add as I go until I'm happy with the mix . Once this has dried the rest can be buffed away , no moisten towel or such to remove the excess . If you want streaks you can go back over in the areas you want with a moisten q-tip .
So here is a teaser until the next up-date with the final results .

Thanks Joel I did do some pastel work on her last night with a bit of dry brushing . Just a few more spots and the final clear coat can go on . Also correct my error with the landing gear struts , all is fixed now . Slight negligence in my understanding of pictures !

Yesterday time was spent on wrapping this one up with a final sealer and pull off the masking from the canopy . I added the aerial wire and insulator .
Over all this is a great kit with excellent detail right out of the box . For those who like to add detail have a perfect starting point .
Only let down is the air filter which lacks any detail at all and is best replaced .
I did have to use a bit of filler on the under side of the nose . My own doing really and small gap which was easily fixed with scrap card stock .
Thanks Eduard and Andy for the review sample

Nicely done Terri! The build looks excellent, the oob detail on the engine is really nice. Itll be a tough decision when I build one to show the engine or not

Joel , I use the base for most of my builds . I made it when we honored our friend Russell .
In the future I would like to another one . Just need to find a more suitable grass .

Terri,
Just checkout any of the Woodland Scenic grass and dirt products that model railroaders use. You'll be amazed at the variety that's available. And they're really quite reasonably prices.
