Hi Joel Thanks! I'm pleased with the result however I feel I should have possibly added a little extra tension to the lines but that's something for next time.

Hi Chris, finally got a chance to have a look at things and it is coming up a treat and the darker brown does give a better contrast I think.Great work.Cheers Phil

Hi Phil! Thanks for that kind assessment, it has been an interesting build. I've found it surprisingly satisfying. I've made a little further progress and update will be following soon.

Well after much deliberation I've decided that I'm not going to bury my camo job under weathering and dirt. I'm pleased with the way it turned out so I'm going to leave it factory fresh. Here are the pics of the finished article. I'll post some to put up in the campaign gallery a little later on. It's been an awesome campaign guys my thanks for the company over my build.
I had a little trouble with the rigging where I rested my finger against it inadvertently and stretched it on one side. However the old trick of using a heated screwdriver to heat the synthetic thread and cause it to shrink worked a treat! You couldn't tell that it had been stretched at all fortunately.

Chris,
Just an outstanding build, as the end results certainly justify all your efforts. It certainly wasn't the easiest of kits to build.
The decision to weather or not to weather is a personal one. There are members here who do only museum quality builds, others like myself that do add weathering to create a more operational looking subject. Neither is completely right nor completely wrong.
My only suggestion is that you take your final pictures in a area that is set up for photography purposes to best show off your work.

Thanks Joel I only posted these pics just to prove that I had got it finished. I'll post some pics against a neutral background in the near future. As I need to create something for the campaign gallery.

Outstanding camo job Chris! I would have debating weathering one of my builds where the camouflage turned out so well also.

Ernest many thanks for your kind words. The camo scheme while outstanding, wasn't what I had envisioned. I did find out that the front "o" ring seal on my airbrush was perished and was leaking, which would account for the mixed results in airbrushing thin lines. But I'm really pleased with the overall look of the aircraft.

Okay as promised here are some shots of the SM.81 on a neutral background.

Hi Chris,
very nice work on Your aircraft. I always feared to do an Italian Camo. You did it in 1/72 scale! Congrats!

@Damian: Cheers D it was an interesting build. Quite straight forward construction convoluted painting lol.
@ Oliver: Many thanks Oliver I've actually got the bug now and want to try more Italian camo!

Beautiful build of an aircraft that is rarely built Chris.
