Welcome to the Canvas Falcons II: 1915-16 Campaign!

The campaign will run from November 12, 2015 through November 11, 2016.

If you haven't signed up yet, or want to see the rules, go here.

One of the aims of the campaign is to promote WWI building so please post your initial photos in this thread but post your in-progress work in a blog on the Early Aviation forum with a link in this thread. Please post your finished build photos in your blog and in the campaign gallery.

Looking forward to some great builds of aircraft of World War I to commemorate the centennial!

I will be in for part 2. I only have two that fit the bill, a RNAS pup or an AMC DH 2 but I am not sure about the latter and all that rigging.

cheers

In honest attempt to stay within the Campaign years (1915 - 1916) - can I pick aircraft that had its first flight in mid-1916, even though not entering (limited) service until 1917?

The period is more a guideline than an actual rule anyway, so no problem from me!

Have an Academy Sopwith Camel Mike. Not sure how accurate that kit is, but it's in the stash so I may as well use it.

I am in.

I will try to improve my rigging this time further. Canvas Falcons I was a huge leap forward for my rigging skills, but still a long way to go for decent rigging for me.

Now I will try to find a kit. If nothing else another Albatros D.V. I have no idea what flew in 1915-16

Hello Gents!
Decided to join you in this campaign
Not much experience with posting the progress but surely I'll try to keep up.
Not exactly fitting to the 1915-16 I've decided to go with Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 Early version kit by WNW in 1/32 scale. Let's call it 'big and ugly' approach to the subject

That's the way to look at it gentlemen, don't get stuck on specifics. As long as it's Great War, go for it!

I just dug out an Eduard 1/48 Roland C.II from the stash. Entered service in early 1916, so fits our time period nicely.
Lovely kit and I need some experience tackling rigging before I do the WNW kit I got last week. This one with its simple rig will help me greatly.
I'll get some pics up later.

My build: The Eduard 1/48 Roland C.IIa.
Always been a fan of the Roland since I built the Airfix 1/72 years ago. The beautifully streamlined design has always struck me as being years ahead of it's rivals. It looks so advanced compared to the typical clumsy looking wood and canvas designs of 1915.
This is going to be build I am going to enjoy.

My build will be here: https://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/245530&page=1

I just discovered this site/forum and signed up. I have a 1/72 Roden Fokker D.VII I've been working on. It's about 30% complete, is that good to enter?
I'll create a build log for it as well as soon as I figure out how

You should post some pics here with links to your build so we can get more detail. Nice choice!

Here is the kit. I started it a number of years ago and then it sat in a box until two weeks ago.

And here is some of the progress I've made.
