My club started a group build project and we decided to build the same kit. We chose the newish BF 109 F from Hobbyboss as it was supposed to be a simple build kit. This started me on a quest to look at all the round nose 109's I have ever had in my model cabinet. I start with the build of the Hobbyboss kit but this will be a comparison of a lot of kits ending up I think with the new Eduard kits. So here is the beginning of the first build. By the way I am not really focusing on what is wrong or right just having fun, though I will mention things that stand out to me in the kits.

Hobbyboss fuse together, one note on this is that it is more of an early G than an F and for some reason they opted not to include the upper part of the inboard flap-radiator door in the wing.
this is not what I would consider all that simple of a build but it does fit well and overall looks the part of an early round nose 109. I did add the tube in the front of the drop tank and the cannon in the nose cone.

I like how both kits are turning out. I had looked at the Pegasus kit several times and wondered how good it was. Thanks for sharing.

Well this is interesting - I might even learn something! I need to learn more about 109s. I know as much about a 109 as most people know about the N1K2-J, which is an area of particular interest for me.

Doug, thanks for sharing you findings on the 109 and like Matt stated I know only a little re: the Bf109, and never been interested in building any kits for this aircraft. Funny though, I have 3 different 109 kits in the building process at the moment.
Again, thanks for sharing your photos and tips.

Eeuuhmmm Doug how do you find the time to build this much models of this quality in this short amount of time. Compared to my building speed I am slower than a snail

Well I am old, my kids are grown and moved away, my wife leaves me alone when I get home from work and I do at least an hour almost every night. I also have done so many models that I have systems that i use to get stuff done. And I love doing it, it is like therapy for me and helps keep me sane.

Excellent work there Doug, I really like the Swiss 109, outstanding paintwork.
You have finished four kits whilst I have managed to glued two parts together, I'm not envious at all .

next one on the list is the Revell Germany BF 109 F, now this is a rebox of the ICM kit so we can call it both. The kit comes with a lot of cool features like separate flaps and flight controls and a full engine. It is best built with the cowls open as they don't fit as well closed, so that is how I decided to do it. I am also doing some battle damage on the wing as i want to do a diorama with it and a couple of others eventually so I thinned the inner part of the left wing and with a sharp exacto blade cut some bullet holes.
