Been kind of quiet around the Western Front lately so I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in an ETO campaign. It could either cover from 1939 or 1942, when the Yanks got there, to 1945, anything that flew in the skies of NW Europe. What do you all think and what time frame do you like better? It wouldn't probably start until February to clear out the ongoing campaigns a bit.
By the way (and this is not a criticism), I don't have to be the only one proposing campaigns. If anyone has an idea they'd like to see become a group build, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes! Guidelines are
here.

NW Europe from D-Day to 1945.
I would be in with a 1/72 Scale Airfix Typhoon with a upgrade set that i have.
I can run this campaign if that would help Michael?

If you want to have a strictly ETO campaign, I'd say '42 to '45 since it was an American formation. If you just want Western Front then '39 on?

Hmm... Not much interest yet. If this goes, we could make a series out of it. I've already got a CBI campaign going. We could do MTO and PTO as well.

I'd be in. I've a variety of options from another Mosquito, Spitfires to Mustangs and Luftwaffe kits.
And I'd be in for a series, too.

I would be interested in this campaign, and the series too.

That's six so far, just four more needed.
My concept here would be for this to be the second in a series of Theater campaigns (as I said,
the CBI Campaign is already up and running). Each would start as the previous one was ending.
I'm not sure how much to cover in this one, assuming it gets enough people interested. I think D-Day to VE day as Richard is suggesting is a bit too limiting. I like Paul's 1942-1945 but would certainly be willing to go '39 to '45 to include France and the early RAF stuff. And should the Eastern Front be included?

Eventually it would be (sort of a WWII 75th anniversary series), but each single campaign would focus on a specific theater of operations.

Hi Michael,
i really like the idea of one campaign dedicated to one theatre of operation, but i'm not sure to understand the "ETO" concept (Eastern Theatre of Operation ? If so, for me frenchman it means Barbarossa and its sequels !

)
But as i said i'd like to continue after the CBI campaign to another theatre of operation so count me in !
Cheers

Nico,
ETO stands for European Theater of Operations. It's basically Northwest Europe (France, Low Countries, Germany) before and after the invasion. I was just asking if people were interested in widening that to include before the Americans got in and the Eastern front or just keep it NW Europe, 1942-45.
Welcome aboard, and that's seven!

Michael, how about opening it up to us armor guys ? Starting with the Polish invasion on to the invasion of Western Europe. Then the US entrance to the war. ETO, MTO, PTO. Barbarosa, the Russian drive to Berlin.
Like you wrote in an earlier post "My concept here would be for this to be the second in a series of Theater campaigns (as I said, the CBI Campaign is already up and running). Each would start as the previous one was ending."
Run them in chronological order as the events unfolded during WWII.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I think that would be a good idea. I haven't built armor in 30 years, however, I do have a Sherman that was going to get CDN markings sooner than late, and it might get this campaign more attention and a huge amount of subjects.

No problem Nico, it catches up with all of us sooner or later!
Armor, eh? What do you all think, should I open up that option too?

i had a couple ideas for campaigns but wasn't sure how to go about it. the pto was one but more specific i was thinking of a pacific aces campaign. there are a lot of aces out there not known too well on both sides that something like this would be neat to do. the other would specific pacific squadrons.

Hi Michael,
cleaning up the cellar I found the Airfix Typhoon. I think this will fit in the campaign. Hence, I am in!

Welcome Oliver, you're number eight. Only a couple more needed!
I'm happy to include armor modelers in these campaigns (though I'm afraid John over at Armorama may think I'm poaching on his territory). Let's make this a good series of WWII 75th anniversary campaigns!

Would "ETO" include Finland, etc? And/or Western Russia? Just trying to get a feel for the parameters here ;-)
