Accurate Miniatures 1:48 P-51A MustangI have had the AM P-51A in the stash for a while now trying to come up with an excuse to build her. Here is my entrant for the CBI Campaign:
AM's P-51's are some of my favorite kits; easy to build, accurate, and lots of options for detailing. I am going to go with either "Carol's Daddy" from the 1st ACG or maybe "Mrs. Virginia" from Hailakanda. I have built a few of AM's Mustangs now so for this one I thought I'd throw everything I could think of at it. I am going to add an engine set, resin cockpit, control surfaces, bazooka tubes, and maybe gun bays. It should be fun!
Lots of goodies! I may get started tomorrow, we'll have to see how the paint work goes on my Ho 229.

Picked this one as there are only two Sprues and seeing how I only been building ships and armor I thought I should start lite with my first plane.

Nice one Paul, I may be doing that very kit myself, only in 1/32. I think the HobbyCraft kit is clearly a scale-up of Accurate Miniatures.
Mark, a very cool choice. But be careful, Williams Bros. do very interesting kits, but the fit generally leaves something to be desired.

I have an Eduard spitfire that might fit the bill for this campaign from the Aussie eights dual combo.

I think I'll also participate with a Spitfire from Eduard, but in different markings (and packaging):
The kit has five marking options and one in cover was based in Burma 1945. The plane was flown by RAF F/Lt Paul Ostrander.

The B-10 is especially unique. I am looking forward to Your build Mark!
Here is my entry. I built two of them before. These are nice little kits.
For this campaign I will try to do a British Mohawk in India, but I am not sure about the exact plane I want to build. Did they had roundels with a red inner circle or not??? I will browse the net to find some answer, or does anybody know more about this topic.
Additionally, here is some PE and literature. It is about the P-40, but some pages deal about the P-36.
I will try to sand the raised panel lines and engrave new ones for the first time. Let´s see how this works!

Oliver, initially thanks for your kind words about my Phantom -signof4-build
As I like to do a P-36/Hawk A75 as well I made some little researches. As for the RAF Mohawks it seems to be both insignias with and without inner red roundels depending on time and Squad are possible - so it should be your choice...

I'll go with the ancient kit from Aoshima P-36/Hawk 75/? with this excellent state-of-the-art constuction manual
. Have to modify something to fit the campaign and for sure the kit's decals are meanwhile useless and won`t provide what I'm looking for

Lots of very interesting selections so far for this campaign! And a very "allied" presence too. I have a couple kits I was having a tough time choosing between but stuck with my original idea of an early 64th Sentai Ki-43 in the 2 tone camouflage markings of the Malayan campaign using hasegawas 1/48 kit. My subject is shown here being chased by a Hurricane on the cover of this Kagero book.

My entry for the campaign will be the HobbyBoss P-47D in British SEAC markings. The decals say these planes flew out of India.
I haven't decided if I'll do camouflage scheme or plain NMF.
It's nice to see a variety of interesting aircraft. My second choice was a IJA Ki-27 or USAAC C-46.

For this campaign i submit 3 kits:
Eduard jugs over italy with xtradecals X48115 (Yanks with Roundels Part 4 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt in RAF/SEAC service)
Airfix Bristol beaufighter mk10 with the following aftermarket from eduard: photoetch (ref 73526), resin exhaust (ref 672 076) and wheels (ref 672 075)
And for finishing (or starting) the eduard IL-16 type 10.

Opened the Aoshima-plastic bag and had a second look
Cutting parts and started cleaning. Very crisp styrene, raised panel lines and details, very few excess. And wow - separate flaps.BTW: what was the inside flap-color??
What I`ve found in addition you can see in the pic - again a kit that needs a lot of attention...

Hallo Thomas,
I just found an old modeller journal with a french Hawk. This one was built with interior green flaps. As the french Hawks were transferred to Great Britain, this could be the colour.
But, looking at the British Mohawks, I am not sure about the cowling. It seems that there was a significant change in the shape according to a new engine. Does anybody know some drawings to adjust this on my P-36 A?
