Hi folks!!!
My name is Stefan and I come from Germany. I live in a small village near Stuttgart. Aero Scale-user Torsten Rossmann is a friend of mine and now I followed him to this forum.
I've been modeling (with several brakes) since childhood.
My main focus in modeling is wwII and 50's. But I also have a long-term project: Military aviation of Turkey from the Ottoman Empire to today......in 1/48 scale.
But to my debut I wanna show you the latest "WWII-product" of my workbench:
It's Hasegawa's Bf 109 G-4 in 1/32 scale. It's a great kit with nice details and a really good fit. Compared to Revell and Trumpeter, the Hasegawa kit offers the most fun. Colours from Vallejo and Gunze.
My Gustav shows an aircraft of the 4./JG 53.
Cheers...
Stefan

Hello Stefan and welcome to Aeroscale!
This is a really lovely 109, You built there! And the little diorama is very nice, too. I have never seen this desert camo on a 109 before. Has it been only on the later versions, like the Friedrich or Gustav?
Oliver

Great result and a nice camo on that Gustav, Stefan! I have the same kit in the Revell box, but it still will take a long time before I tackle that kit.
And welcome to the great international Kitmaker family! I'm pretty sure you'll find lots of inspiration for your future projects.
Of course I have suscribed to your "Flying Circus", as I believe you want to build it up like my "Assembly Line", right?
Happy modelling!
Torsten

Hi guys!!!
Thanks for your welcome and your comments. I'm pleased that you like my 109-debut on Aeroscale.
Oliver, Luftwaffe-aircrafts in the Mediterranean usually had improvised camouflage. Often Italian colors were used.
Torsten....yeah, you're absolutely right. I used your "assembly line-thread" as an example, mate!!!
Cheers....

Stefan,
Welcome to Aeroscale, you're really going to like it here. As Torsten's friend, I'm already considering you a friend as well. And after seeing your Hasegawa's Bf 109 G-4 in 1/32 scale, you have the same modeling philosophy as he does: A perfect Museum finish. But you upped him on the scale, as he's a 1/48 scale lifer.
Just a beautiful build, and a outstanding camo paint scheme.
looking forward to your next addition to your Fling Circus, which I've already subscribed to.

Welcome aboard. Man, that's a beautiful 109!! Love those underwing 20 mm cannon pods too.
A question about modeling conventions in Germany given the prohibition on reproduction of the Hackenkreutz. Is it allowed to put a black diamond in place of it, or maybe four "compass points" where it would be located on the tail? Just wondering.
Again, welcome. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Brian

Thank you, mates!! I am very pleased to be part of this great community now.
Brian....yes, the "Swastika-Problem".....in Germany it's illegal to show swastikas in public. Models are considered as toys and may not have swastikas. And of course.....there's still our brown history.
Since I show my models at public conventions, I simply leave the swastikas away.
Sure, you can also mask it, but I don't like it.
Either all or nothing.
Cheers....
Stefan

News from my workbench: its' a Spitfire Mk.Vc in US-Uniform. The kit comes from Italeri with Special Hobby inside the box.
I built out of box, only the antenna wire is made of stretchable yarn.
Colors from Vallejo (Model Air), Revell and Gunze.
Weathering by washing with diluted oil paints und using of various pastel chalks.
Everything was sealed with a silk mat clear coat.
My model shows an aircraft of the 4th FS, 52nd FG, flown by Major Robert Levine, Tunisia 1943.
Cheers....

Steffan
That's a great looking Spit in a less common scheme.
I didn't know Italeru revoked the Special Hobby kit. I assume it does not have resin/ photo etch included?

Thanks, Simon! Yeah, the Spitfire in desert camouflage and with US emblems can not be seen so often.
I also had no idea that Special Hobby is inside the box.
But despite the short-run version it is a pretty good kit.
Resin parts are not included, but a small etching board for the seat-belts and for the interior.
Cheers....

Another nice build, Stefan. Spits with US markings are not seen often. I have built the Eduard Mk. IX this year with that insignias. The Mk. V with Vokes filter I still have in my stash from Hasegawa. You can never have enough Spits ....

Her comes my new Zero from Revell/Monogram in 1/32 scale. I'm a big fan of these old modelkits and often I'm really surprised what great models arise from these "oldtimers". I think the Zero is also a part of it....

Lovely Zero Stefan, the figures look good as well. Did you dry-brush the rivets on the wings to get that effect?

Thanks, Damian!! The figures are from CMK and they're really awesome. And I worked the rivets with a silver colored pencil...quite simple but effective!!

Hallo Stefan,
I agree about the old kits. I like them too. You will find several reviews of old kits here at Aeroscale and elsewhere at KitMaker.
Your models look great. I appreciate your paint and subtle weathering.

Welcome Stefan it's always a pleasure to see fresh faces join our community! I agree with you regarding the older kits not just Revell but large scale Airifx (1/24) they are often maligned and compared to the latest wunder kit which is unfair as when they were released they WERE the latest wunder kit! Great to see another Torsten Rossmann acolyte! (Just kidding Torsten )
What scale is the Spitfire? 1/48? I've built an ICM kit of the spitfire in similar markings. It's always interesting to see a country's aircraft in another nation's markings.

Thanks for your comments.
Yes, Chris....the Spitfire is in 1/48 scale.
And here comes another 1/48-scale warbird: it's HobbyBoss' new Bf 109 G-6.
The "Yellow 1" was flown by Lieutenant Manfred Dieterle, Squadron Leader of the 3./JG 300 in 1944.
The unusual nightfighter camouflage is very interesting. The underside and the wing roots completely black. The topside completely RLM 76 with meandering stripes in RLM 75.

Hi Stefan,
The G6 is my favourite aircraft and I'm always glad to see a new camouflage scheme.
Beautiful job!

Thanks for starting this post on Aeroscale. These are just the sort of models I like to see. The presentation of each one in a diorama certainly enhances the model. Keep them coming!

Thank you, guys!! I'm now happy to be part of the big aeroscale-family..
Oliver, after a several unsuccessful attempts with the airbrush, I applied the meander strips simply with a brush. Two or three little drinks have provided for an even brush stroke.
Cheers

Stefan,
Another excellent build, this time the HobbyBoss' new Bf 109 G-6 presented in your BigZimmo's Flying Circus. Like everyone so far the camo pattern is one I've never seen presented on a model before and is certainly a eye catcher.
