howdy doody,,,,,,,,,,

The planes i mosly like are the old Bi-planes.

In these planes the pilots really have to work .

Second " when " i build a plane and this is rare....... i build mostly 1:48 bombers .
The latest 1:48 i build was the B 17 from Monogram ( Many years ago )
But al most of my models i still have it . and it stands on display . Or better it hangs on display here on the wall...
Maybe i have to take some pictures of it....

My Favs are the F4-U Corsair for prop driven planes and the F-14 Tomcat for modern jets. To me, both have a unique shape that seems to set them apart from other aircraft from their era.

My vote would be for the Spitfire and Me-262 (for WWII Planes), and the Mig-29 and F14 Tomcat (Post WW II planes).

I consider the Spitfire to be easily the most beautiful plane seen or heard !

Cheers,
BP.

Guys, I almost forgot the best all around aircraft ever built. The F-4 Phantom. No other plane was or has been used in combat by the Navy, Air Force and the Marines. She could carry the farm and take punishment. Smaller Migs were ok in Nam, but she was more than up for the challenge. Many countries had them and some still use them. Gotta vote her the BEST

Shadow, you are right. The Bug will never take the place of the T-Cat. What will carry the Phoenix now? The Hornet can't carry enough of them to make a difference. Mike, the Spitfire was a beauty and sounded great . Still have to lean towards the'Stang

My favourites...

Fw-190A
Me-262 (especially the night fighter, seeing as there's one in the local military museum)
F-111
B-1B (after seeing one do a supersonic flypast at an airshow).
XB-70 Valkyrie (wish I could find a kit of this (well, in a bigger scale than 1/300))
F-15
SR-71

Claymore, AMT did a 1/72 scale of the Valkrie. Try surfing the net or E-bay for one, they are out of production now.

There are many of these, most involve props spinning. I can really just pin one specific plane down, the rest fall into genres.

In some fashion of order:
* He-177. Four engines, two props. Those crazy Germans. Oh, and let's make it a divebomber too! Looks sleek and menacing - loved it since I was a kid.
* Seaplanes. All of 'em. Take the wheels off, and make it waterproof - I'll build it.
* Interwar period, when the engineers were trying to figure out how to really make it fly.
* Helicopters. Jet engines are now supreme, so I'll model the ones with the props on top.
* Italian planes. Make it an Italian seaplane from the 30's, and we're there!

F4U Corsair

That's exactly the way I feel! :-)
Can't pick just one, and if I do it's the Corsair. (By the way, welcome to the site! )

Other picks;
P-51
F6 Hellcat
F-18
F-15
And, of course, the Bf-109

My only pick without any contest:F-14.First time I ever saw one was in Top Gun,my fav movie, and it has stuck with me for the rest of my life. This is the baby I want to fly soooo bad.

Very close behind:
F-105 Thunderchief. The most rugged aircraft of all time.Thuds are awesome!
F-4E/G Phantom II(Yes that right the E and G!)
F-100 Super Sabre.Huns flew more in-country missions in Vietnam than any other a/c.
Su-27(33,35,37)I have to admit, the Russains got it right with this puppy. No other aircraft can touch the 37 as it has thrust-vectoring engines. You can sit there and do anything you want in it and still ome out on top.

OMG!
5 manufacturers.
18,888 built.
Dad did 50 credits,Jan-Jul '44
S/N 42-52339
Little Butch
B-24H Liberator.
I was lucky enough to contribute a few years ago to the Collings foundation, and got a ride on their B-24.Now I understand.
So I have built that model in 1/48th,and 1/72nd.

My Fav aircraft are:.........

WWII

The RAF Mosquito, because it was a aircraft no one wanted at first and wound up being one of the best all round multi-role aircraft in the war.

also any WWII nightfighter as they were the cutting edge of their time.

Modern.

The F-104 Starfighter. because this aircraft had one of the longest production runs of all time. I think the last ones came off the assembly lines in the late 80's or early 90's, which isn't bad for a 1950's era fighter. It was produced under lincene in many countrys. and still is in service with many although the interduction of the F-16 has placed many of them into 2nd line service.

My two favourite fixed-wing aircraft are the A-10 and the F-15E - those are a couple of badass m*%$#s.
My favourite aircraft of all, however, is the Atlas Rooivalk - its performance specs are awesome, it looks mean and of course it's locally produced.

Cheers
