The H.Hunter is a mighty fine piece of art, but nothing beats the good old Spitfire in my eyes.

My favorite is the Douglas SBD. It sunk more shipping tonnage than any other aircraft in history. It fought from day one (for the US) till VJ-day, in all theaters, although it had been replaced in front line service by the SB2C. SBDs even have kills flying close-CAP for carriers. Without a bomb laod the plane was extremely manueveable and could easily take on dive bombers and torpedo bambers that got past the Wildcats, Hellcats and Corsairs.

Though I think the F14, F15 and especially the last generation of Migs and Sukhois look stunning, the Galaxy C5 is my absolute favorite.

To me, the most beautiful airplanes are probably those : beech staggerwing, beech 18...
and also the super constellation !
For something more modern, I'd choose the mirage 2000.

Ummmm I like the SU -27 Sukhoi. A mean, sleek, sexy killing machine. I love the phantom, tough, hardy, all business. The Blackhawk, (does that count) is a fantanstic machine, and now available in 1:35th!!!!!

Contemporary favorites are the old adversaries F4 Phantom and MiG-21. For WW2 the P38 Lightning and the Spitfires. For civil aviation, the L1049 Super constellation, the Beech Staggerwing and the Boeing Dash-80--prototype for the KC135, 707,717, and 737 airliner families.

On the fighter side I love the TBF Avenger - can't quite put my finger on it but that's the one.
On bomber side - sorry duh - can't get original - got it for the B17 early models pre chin turret.
Of the modern stuff I love the A6 Intruder - does it all in all kinds of weather.

Of the aircraft I have built I have truely enjoyed Tamiyas 1/32 F4 Phantom. One bad bird of plastic.

I think that the old B49 flying wings looked much more cool... especialy the first ones, with
the bulges that were there to simulate machine gun turrets, and their rear facing propellors !

What's ur Favourite Aircraft?

Sounds like a limit of one. And that one would have to be the B-1. Yes, plain and simple – The BONE. Sleek and sexy, the sports cars thing ya know and middle age crisis has finally struck with that thought.

P.S.
Just to throw some rocks.

Boeing Dash-80--prototype for the KC135

Greg, not sure if I read your post right or not, but the civil prototype for the kc-135 is the Boeing 707

The Dash-80 was the test bed for the flying boom set-up. The KC-135 was actually produced before the 707 went into service. Bad BC – and you are in Boeing land too. :-)
