Welcome to the 3nd Generation Combat Jets Campaign! This campaign will be about the generation of jet aircraft starting from the early '60s that refined the art form of combat aircraft design and started to add more and more black boxes.
The campaign will run from 1 May through 31 December, 2018.
If you haven't signed up yet, or want to see the rules, go here.
Please post your initial and in-progress photos as well as campaign discussion in this thread. Please post your finished build photos in the campaign gallery.
Looking forward to the builds remembering these smokin' aircraft!

Bob, the F-106 was on the list for the 2nd Gen. Campaign.
So it doesn't fit on this one. Sorry.

The F-1 and F-104 both look interesting. Platz is all new company to me, and I have Eduard's 104 (Hasegawa plastic) in stash so I'm looking forward to seeing how they build up.
My original plan was to build Kitty Hawk's MiG-25, but I changed my mind and will build AMK's Kfir instead. Here's start picture:

@Pasi, I'm thinking about the Testor's 1/72 boxing of the Kfir as an aggressor F-21. Look forward to your build.

I have 3 choices for this one:
Mig-25, Mig-21 or Ye-152 .
Can't take a decision.

Well I took my kit to a model show at the weekend and started the build.
There is not a lot of parts but I am going to need to do a bit of filling here and there, especially as its a NMF.
So here are the box top, contents and how far I got at the weekend of Anigrand Craftworks 1/72nd Bell XF-109.
Unfortunately three of the six exhausts weren't in the kit, so I have contacted Anigrand for some replacements.

By the way, all, no ribbon yet. Any ideas?

Hmmm, I'm no artist. But the 2nd Gen ribbon has an F-104 on the top and bottom of the ribbon with a "2nd Gen" in the middle.
How about replacing one of the F-104's with a MiG 21 and the other with an F-4 Phantom and "3rd Gen" in the middle?

Well some how I have manged to delete the pics from my earlier post, even though they are still in the folder I put them in lol.
So anyhoo, here is an in progress pic.
And before I knew it, the Bell D-188A, or if Bell had their way the XF-109, but the US Government said no, it is as finished as its going to be until Anigrand send the replacement exhausts lol.
On a side note, this configuration would be correct as the mock up didn't have any engines installed.

Changed my mind an will do MiG-25 PD/PDS by Kitty Hawk instead:
Started with engines:
Could almost fit pair of EE Lightning's engines into one of MiG-25's.

Hi everyone!
Amazing Campaign, I didn't know but I love 3rd generation combat jets. Great entries so far.
I couldn't decide which one to make. I was watching Youtube a few weeks ago when I show a video build of the F.1 of Special Hobby and here we are...
I am building a Mirage F.1 CE, the Spanish version of the jet. According to Special Hobby, the aircraft was rather worn out, good opportunity to practise weathering...
