Welcome to the Biplanes of WWII Campaign! This campaign is all about those "obsolete" biplanes that soldiered on into the Second World War years. The campaign will run from 1 April, 2020 through 1 April, 2021.
If you want to see the rules and sign up, go here. Post campaign related discussion and in-progress photos in this thread. Pics of finished models should be posted in the campaign gallery.
Looking forward to models of those stingbags that hung on and fought the good fight!

Hi All,
I originally was going to build this one for the "Fly Boats of WWII" Campaign, unfortunately due to work and an over-stretch of model projects it remains as it was when the original photo was taken. Fortunately, I knew that there'd be a chance in the future to build it, and here it is! I was also able to pick up a set of Eduard masks, and the Hasegawa PE set for the kit. This should be a fun build, as my research and markings will do for the Kamikawa Maru. Making a more complete seaplane display next to its partner the A6M2-N Rufe!
Be safe, wash your hands with soap, and have fun!

Here's my entry:
Kit by ICM and decals by Printscale. Finland had 21 I-153s of which 11 were captured and 10 (plus one that wasn't delivered) were bought from Germany. These were used until 1944 and put to storage in 1945.
Decided to go with Finnish plane, although experimental I-153 powered by ramjets would've been quite interesting.

Oboy. New flat, new model and hopefully a new and improved life. Nener made a Roden before, and got a happy surprise. Good layout and a lot to do. Good thing the campaign runs for a full year.
The only bad thing is that I chose the wrong model for the idea i got, or the wrong idea for the model I had. Philosophical, i guess, but I can build her in the right livery without skis.
Rather heavy wings, with both sides moulded in the same part. It gives rather sharp trailing edges, though, so no argument from me.
Time for a soap wash and some parts cleanup. Then off to the choice. Engine first, or cockpit, or engine...

What is the average of good news and bad news? News? Today I got a package to collect. The decals for "homecoming" of the F19 wing. that's good news.
Rather ugly skulls, eh. Theat's not the bad news, though. When I got inspired and started on the Bristol engine, it turned out that my paints had been standing for too long, so that many of those which have been opened before, had dried.
Guess I better do an inventory of what's possible to use and place an order tomorrow.

I'm up-and-running with my build now! Not unexpected there will be a bunch of Gladiators here.
Steve! You got the kit that I should have gotten hold of to start with (problem solved with an old Heller prop from a friend though).
Tony! So good to see you back on Aeroscale!
Pasi! I bought the ICM kit in 1/72 and Finnish markings the other day, it might sneak in here as well !
I'm adding to the Gladiator population around here with the above kit!
And this is the current standings!
As usual I got a build blog running with more info and pics!

It's getting to be a sqn of gladiators, so maybe I should have gone for the CR 42 instead.
I,m glad to be back Magnus. Hope my mojo is still here. We,ll see.
And Chaz, I'd like to see a bug like you imply. Had an old -60 in my teens, and huge plans. It was never finished, so an over-pimped Gladiator will be nice to see finished.
Good luck everybody

Well, it NOT a Gladiator, does that count?
Special Hobby 1/72 Grumman F3F-2. It has marking for 4 Marine birds from 1940 to 1943 still trying to decide yellow wings or blues and grays.
There's resin bits and the brass bits are hidden behind the decals.

Looks like some good projects here!
I know what I'd LIKE to do. Lately I haven't been too good at follow-through. But we'll see...

And then there were 14. I plan on building this Supermodel Fiat CR32 in Spainish Civil War markings. I amost entered the Xotic-72 1/72 RO37 but the fit looked awful. Here is the Supermodel 1/72 Fiat CR32. Decals are included for three versions of the CR32, also a Spainish CR32 BIS, and an Italian CR32 Quater.

For those not familiar with the Xotic-72 Kit here is the box art. Low parts count with some photo-etched parts. Locating the wing spars is a challenge. Decals are good but old. Maybe one day.

Very interesting range of kits being built here already. I'm loaded up with builds at the moment and unable to join in, but I will be following for sure.

Nate! Nice progress on your Hawk! And certainly not an aircraft that I have seen built before!
Gladiator progressing fairly well! More info in the build blog!

Hi, I am joining the campaign with Hs 123 B.
The kit includes "rag wing" parts to build Hs 123 A as well, so I may switch to A version if I find the paint scheme I would like to build. It is a bit unusual: pre-war three-colour splinter camo on top, RLM 65 with yellow wing tips on the bottom. I saw a diagram for this plane many years ago and now I am frantically searching the google to find it. As far as I remember it was an old training machine that was send to Easter Front around 1943 as an attrition replacement, hence the unusual livery.

Very fine work going on here!
I realized we don't have a ribbon. I was messing around with an idea and came up with this:
What does everyone think?
