OK maybe this one will gain some traction. The focus will be aircraft specifically tasked with the Close Air Support (CAS) mission. If Wiki can be trusted, the concept goes all the way back to 1917, so there’s over 100 years of airframes to choose from. Leaving out Bombers and straight fighters (see Caveat list below), there are plenty of choices.
Rules:
1) Have fun!
2) Any scale, any era, any service
3) Any aircraft tasked with Close Air Support Missions
4) Only one ribbon per entrant, Don’t enter into another campaign
5) Up to 25% started OK
6) Hang weapons on it
Run time: 6 months Start time: November 2020
Candidates (mostly pulled from Wiki), by no means complete, feel free to nominate you own favorites.

There are cases where front line fighters are detailed to the Close Air Support role, some examples:
Curtis P-40 Kittyhawk
Republic P-47 Thunderbolt
North American P-51 Mustang
Vought F-4U Corsair
Grumman F=14A/B Bombcat
I don’t see why these couldn’t be included, but they really ought to have a heavy bomb load.
So, anyone interested?

I'm currently building a marine phantom from da nang that would definitely count as a mud mover. I did actually hang a pair of sidewinders on it, but I think there were plenty of missions where no air-to-air capability was loaded. Just sayin'...
I'm interested in this, but I'm a little afraid I'm getting overcommitted. Any chance you would increase this to a 9 month completion window?

We're at the proposal stage, everything is flexible. I can see on the modern Attack aircraft have so much hanging off of the wings, you'll spend more time chasing seams on ordinance than on the fuselage, so I can't say no to 9 months.
FWIW, the A-7 packed a pair of Sidewinders for self defense.

Great theme for a campaign Mark. If I can get myself sorted with the time frame I might join with a CAC Boomerang. It started out as a fighter but wasn't really successful, but in the CAS role it excelled!
Looking forward to seeing what variants are put forward here!

My marine F4 is for the current phantom campaign. But I'll find something to do. I'm thinking it might be an IL-2?

I may be easy, but I'm not cheap. Your preference has been noted.

If it goes firm on a 9 month campaign window, I will definitely join in ... I'm no air modeller by any stretch of the imagination, but I got hooked onto the Phantom 60, but I will be moving away from 1/72 & will be trying a 1/32 Revell Harrier .... if anyone recommends it ?
On a side note, would the OV-10A Bronco be classed as a mud mover ??

Mark,
I have a very poor track record in completing campaigns these past years...
However one of the kits I have recently started cutting the plastic is the Hasegawa/Revell Henschel 129 B.
If it’s permitted and if the campaign runs for at least 8 months...count me in!

Henschel 129B seems to fit the bill. But it that 75mm gun made it fly backwards It might not count on the aircraft category. It looks like a 9 month campaign will fly with TPTB. I really gotta get this campaign started.
