Howdy All,
Just came across this wonderful bit of GREAT news whilst perusing another site and thought I'd better hurry over here and spread such wonderful news with my favourite bunch of blokes (and Shiela's ).
Apparently, these are the Academy / Panda moulds that have been reworked by the fine folks at Trumpeter. The 'skinny' is that the projected release date is September of this year ('05).
Below are a couple of pics of the Master being built....
Mannnnnnnnn, I can't WAIT for this mutha to hit the shelves!!!
Just think about it....once you add both main rotor diameters to the already huge fuselage, this thing is going to be massive!
And.....just to give you an idea of just how large this kits going to be, here's a pic showing a side-by-side of a 1/35th scale Chinook sitting beside a 1/35th M113..........
Tread.
Many thx go to our own HeavyArty (Gino) for providing info regarding the projected release date of this kit.....

Tread,
Looks great, doesn't it. Can't wait to get it myself. Hope/expect is is as good as their other large scale helo offerings.

Boy Howdy!
I'm with you on that one Gino! I can't even tell you how much I've been wanting one of these. Being an old helo driver myself it is both a sweet and bitter exercise building the big-scale birds....on one hand I enjoy it immensly, while at the same time I miss flying so much it literally hurts!
As you already know (and have been hugely helpful with), I have a handful of these large-scle helos ( the Super Frelon, and the SA 330B Puma, not to mention several (4) Blackhawk / Pavehawks, (3) Huey's, (2) Apache's, (3) Cobra's and a Bell 47) all in 1/35th scale, plus a handful of 1/32nd scale ships like the Euro 'Tiger', the French Aeoulette (sp?), and even a fairly accurate U.S. 'Husky'.
The 1/35th Chinook will be a superb addition to the collection.......now all Trumpeter has to do to make me drop even more sheckles in their 'tithe' plate is to come up with a 1/35th scale Sea Stalllion!!
Now wouldn't THAT be a wonderful surprise????

Actually, I just bought the Academy 1/48th scale Chinook at my local Hobby Lobby (I haven't even broken the shrinkwrap yet).
But with this good news, I am seriously thinking about selling/trading it......any takers?

Post Script: My only real hope with this new Chinook is; that there is less 'Panda' in it, and more 'Trumpeter'.......

Oh the possibilities! I'm sure someone will find a thin stiff rod to simulate a tow cable dropping off a dozer or a small vehicle.

Howdy again fellas,
Way back when our fearless leader Staff_Jim originally added the 'Rotary Wing' category to the Aircraft Forum, I was the very first poster on that new Forum catering to the helo aficionado's amoungst us.......
Well, I remember mentioning something back then regarding the "coming" release from Trumpeter regarding their 1/35th scale Chinook offering. So I did a search of my earlier 'Topics Started' listing and found it. Do you know what the date stamp was??........Novemeber 29, 2003.
That'll give you an idea of how long (at least in print) that I've been waiting.........
{my apologies for the short rant }

OH MY druliing and mouth wide open. I just had a Dream of a M198 M155 being transported by that beast.
Or a whole sluw of marines running out the back to a building.
Thanks for the tease. And just in time for x-mas too. That has been my second most dreamed about kit since the M198 M155.
Happy Modeling

note the upside down lettering on the box in pic 2... looks like they are actually working on the FW200 condor too.
Anyway, lovely to see a Chinook being made in that scale.
All they have to do now is add decals for a Dutch army version

It is good news. Panda were going to release a 1/35th scale EH101 Merlin too. Any news on that one? It's just the best (ok so I am biased being a crewchief / flight engineer / door gunner (air loadmaster / crewman in British parlance) on one, but so what?) Pleeze, pleeeeze Trumpeter, get that one too

Tom, no Jarheads allowed on Chinooks, its an all Army bird. USMC doesn't use them. A couple of squads of good ole Army troopers would look great though.
The Airmodel or Mouse House M198 would look even better, I agree. The M198 would most likely cost more than the Chinook though. Oh well, one can dream.

Pics came from FSM site member J-Hulk (who lives in Japan) at this thread, he got them from a Japanese model magazine. Looks like we got scooped by FSM. Discussion has been going on there for a few days about it coming out, with confirmation from a source in China a couple days ago and now pics to boot.

Those pix are from my post over at the FSM forums (I'm J-Hulk over there), and are from this month's issue of Model Graphix magazine. While Gino and others have mentioned release dates and the kit's suspected Academy/Panda lineage, the accompanying article in Model Graphix contained no information concerning either subject.
Glad to see ya'll enjoyed the pix over here, too!

Mighty glad to see you spend some time over here at the big 'A'... Many thx for taking the time to clarify the 'roots' of the info I posted. And hopefully I haven't stepped on any toes by 'in facto' posting them here.....
As far as the "...suspected Academy/Panda lineage...." is concerned, I stand by my earlier statement. The Panda offerings I have purchased are nice to have, but just a tad lacking in the 'accuracy' department IMHO.
Anyway, glad to have the opportunity to mate the FSM J-Hulk with the big 'A' Shado1 moniker.....
