I am presently running a series of pictures of my 1/16th Jenny build that may be of interest to future builders of this type of aircraft. It is basically the Model Airways kit that I have modified into a Jenny "Canuck".
Cheers! John.

Hi John

It's simply mind-boggling! Absolutely fantastic work! Can you tell us a bit more about the modifications you've made?

All the best

No,it is actually basswood as it is known in NA.In Europe it is lime or linden,I believe.

Hi Rowan!Basically I changed from a JN4D to a Canuck.A few things I kept from the the JN4D such as the wood tail assembly as opposed to the metal tail on the Canuck.I felt that I could get away with some artistic licence with this build as it is a barnstormer and they were famous for interchanging parts in those days when there were no rules and regs to worry about. If you are interested in doing a Canuck I have some references on the differences.Glad you like my work.
Thanks. Cheers! John.

I was reading somewhere the other day that about 90% of all pilots flying in North America in the 1920's trained on the Jenny. Its safety record was incredible for its day ,and most pictures that I have seen of accidents involving the Jenny ,look as though the pilot could probably have walked away. With that fuel tank just behind the firewall(not shown in this pic) it is remarkable how few accidents seem to have involved fire.It was only when pilots went on to advance training in some of those hot fighters that a lot of them got into trouble.Maybe in some respects Jenny was a little too forgiving and the transition to the new fighters was simply too big a step for a lot of those inexperienced pilots.Something like going from a Cessna 172 to a Beech 18 or Spitfire

Don't take up scrapbooking just yet folks. Just hang around here a bit and see if you can try not to pick up any good tips. Just try not to. With talented folks that we have dropping in from time to time you can bet by this time next year some of you will be modeling grand champions without even trying.
