i have a mark 1 hurricane in my stash, would that fit into the timeframe of what you and nigel are building?
Hi Phil!
I know Hurricanes were the only fighters used by the British Expeditionary Force in France in 1940 (they kept their Spitfires for home defence!
). So I think a Mk.1 should be ok. You can even make one of "les Chardons", a Belgian squadron.

Thanks Nige,
I am so glad I tried the figure. I was sure that it wasn't going to work out due to my tendency to get brush marks all over when I brush paint, but armed with some tutorials by John17 and some retardent, it worked well and was very enjoyable. I encourage you to give it a try; I certainly hope to do more and improve by doing so...

Hi Guys,
Finally, I have finished one! For the duel amongst Alpha-Tango and Clanky44, here is my venerable refurbished Ki-27. It is the 1/48 Mania kit that is now issued by Hasegawa.
This model was built some 25 years ago. For reasons I can't explain, I kept it. Then I decided to restore it. I stripped off the decals (Loving that IJA "Pistachio gray-green it came molded in) I did not paint the exterior. I tried to replace the canopy but it broke (glued too well to the fuselage). I filled and sanded some gaps. Mainly, I Future-dipped and masked the canopy, then hit her with an old
Polly S (
Not today's Polly Scale! IJA Gray. The original decals were yellowed and fell apart in water, so I made the lightning fuselage lightning with yellow and red decal film. The delicate recessed reivet and panel detail I exentuated with a fine wash of gouche and Future.

Hi Fred
super looking bird and a nice restauration!! I am also glad that we have another counting duel
I guess Jean-Luc would like to have a left side profile shot of it for the duels table! ...
BTW J-L, a good reason to update the table
:-) :-) (do not forget the new duels)
best wishes

Hi Stephen!
You keep me busy! :-)
I'll work on that in the next couple of days... and yes, a left side profile would be nice Fred!

Hi all!
There's only a little bit more than one month to finish the "Duel" Campaign!
Below is an updated table of the entries
12 models are finished (green names) but there are two multiple entries (alpha_tango and TedMamere), so "only" 10 members can expect to have a ribbon so far.
18 more models are currently in the building stage (red names).
4 participants didn't started yet (black names)... it's about time guys!
If I forgot someone or something, please tell me! Good luck to all!

Hi Steffen!
Let's say that for this one I'm awaiting "confirmation". I didn't saw a picture of the finished model yet, did you

Oh! Bad news! I wish you a speedy recovery! And I have no concern about your two last entries! I'm sure you will finish them well before the deadline;

You are right (I think .. which is pretty hard at the moment as the recent pill does not work yet)

Many thanks, mate!
Regarding the models .. I screwed the Early Bird contest already .. the Bombs away campaign (wich I do not remember has appeared here on Aeroscale .. except a certain FM kit) is also very unlikely because of the "qualities" of the kit I chose ...
But as I hate it to leave somebody in the lurch the Duel models have priority .
best wishes

Hi Jean-Luc & Steffen:
Sorry about your illness Steffen, hope you get better soon.
I have some problems with the decals of my 1/72 Spit, so I dicided to build another one instead, this time in 1/48, also Tamiya.
I started the new one only yesterday but I believe that it will be finished in two weeks. IŽll be posting pics.
Regards.
Carlos

Hi Carlos
i have already started, but i wanted to get other projects finished first (Fw 190 A-3, P-40E and the George) ... I've had a little accident with the N1K2 .. sinkholes in the wings where the u/c legs are mounted .. I can't explain how it happened (I use a very thin liquid glue which evapoprates almost instantly...) maybe I've trapped some of the stuff so it had to melt its way
As I am away for some time I cannot repair that .. so the Bf 109 E is next on my schedule --- well, actually I have taken a bunch of models ( He 177, Bf 109 A, Bf 109 E and some other) which I want to start or get a bit further in the coming week or so (no internet there should give me some spare time :-) )
best wishes

I also have some projects that IŽll stop until I finish the Mk I. They are a Spit Mk VI, a Spit Mk XVI & a Mossie Mk XVIII. When finishing the Mk I for this campaign IŽll put my hands in two more Spits from ICM, a Mk IX and a Mk VIII. IŽve read a lot about the ICM Spitfires, theyŽre said the be the more accurate but that the build is not a simple one. Do you know something about them ?
Get better soon.

Hi Carlos
I've already posted my ICM spit severeal times here. I like the kit. You might have to get some replacement wheels and props and fill some other sink marks (not much)
The decals are crap though ... I used "Spit aces of the empire" from Victory productions
cheers

Hi Steffen:
Thanks for the info. Yor Mk IX really looks fantastic. How was the wings to fus. join ? Did you build the wings prior gluing them to the fus., or did you glued first the upper part of the wings to the fus. and after completed the undersides of the wings assembly ?

Hi Jean-Luc,
Considering that my Duel opponents have already finished their entries, should I build an aircraft for a different opponent (one that has already been completed and that is awaiting an opponent) For example, Wolfpack has completed his entry and is awaiting a Russian opponent,... I could scrap my Japanese entry (vs. Alpha Tango and JPTRR.... both completed) and offer someone else a campaign ribbon.... I have plenty of Russian fighters willing and able.
let me know as soon as possible,
thanks,
Frank

Hi Ian,
If Jean-Luc gives me the go ahead to offer you an adversary, do I need to offer up a Yugoslavian entry, or will any eastern front foe do? Let me know the history of your 109, and your preference.
P.S. Only nine days left!

Having had a quick look at your white '9'. It seems that this G-6 was stationed in Greece in Jan '44 and subsequently transferred to Germany at the beginning of the year for the defence of the Reich. Which removes my doing an eastern front adversary. Yugoslavian Hurricanes are also not in the plans.... no decals!
How about a Co-belligerant Macchi 202 or 205? ...would that fit the time line of late 43, early 44...... all you experts out there let me know as soon as possible. I've got both Hasegawa kits, plus resin cockpits and SkyDecals ready for use.
