Academy have just announced a release of the B-17G in 1:72 scale. As the title says the model provides the painting scheme of the American 15th Air Force.

Judging from the earlier forbode of the incoming releases this model kit is probably inspired by one of the latest cinema movies "Red Tails" - you can see a dogfight of P-51's and Me-262 on the boxart, however this is just my guess.

Kits features by Academy:

• fully engraved panel lines and rivet details
  
• optional position landing gear and bomb bay door
  
• highly detailed cockpit interior and bomb bay
  
• Cartograf decals

I don't know whether this is just reboxing of the old, well known Academy kit with new decals and painting scheme or the Academy have modified the molds somehow as I don't remember seeing any rivets on this kit – I have it right now on the workbench and I don't see the rivets. I hope this is not just a sales pitch. The pictures don't answer this question...
