Afterburner Decals have released a very interesting upgrade set for the F-18 Super Hornet in 1/48 scale. They have released a decal sheet with instruments, seat belts, chaff flare buckets, and even the red trim around the gear doors.
I will let the guys at Afterburner describe their latest release:
F/A-18 E/F details...Here's the plan with this...the idea is to make the Eduard placard sets obsolete. I'm not a fan tell the truth...I don't like the 2D effect, and the colors are off pretty badly...plus they are a PITA to use. You get a bunch of different configurations for the screens, including off...plus, as you can see, some other REALLY useful stuff. We debated again about the seat belts, but we had room, so why not...some people like them, and these look pretty cool if you don't stare at them too hard.
Chaff/Flare buckets, the screens on the nose and gear doors, the red edging on the gear doors...who's sick of painting those?
No more dry brushing, no more picking stuff out with 3 hair brushes...
More stuff later...Vipers, various forms of Eagles, more Hornets...sky is virtually the limit here...
Although not a new idea using decals instruments Afterburner look as if they are providing an excellent product for the PE shy and at a very reasonable price too. Decals are printed by Cartograf.
Ref no: 48-082
Price: $15
