Greetings all!

Long time modeler Ira Campbell has worked on beau coup projects for many years. One was the famous Gunsight Graphics streaked camouflage (OOP). Here he brings us the chance to pick up some " German 4 & 5 colour Lozenge" in various scales. He sent me this:
"A shipment of 1/32 lozenge decals made by Aviattic (UK) has arrived and is available for immediate sale. I will be listing them on eBay or you may purchase directly from me. All are on A4 sheets, slightly larger than 8 1/2" x 11" and tightly printed.

In stock right now:

Interior lozenge (includes 4- and 5-color upper and lower reversed, as would be seen inside a Fokker D.VII cockpit)

4-color lower joined bolts (chordwise wing application)

4-color lower full bolts (fuselage sides, etc.)

4-color upper joined bolts

4-color upper full bolts

5-color lower joined bolts

5-color lower full bolts

5-color upper joined bolts

5-color upper full bolts

Fokker D.VII 4-color "cookie cutter" wing decals with center panel and blue rib tapes

Fokker D.VII 4-color "cookie cutter" wing decals with center panel and pink rib tapes

Fokker D.VII 4-color "cookie cutter" wing decals with center panel and lilac(mauve) rib tapes

Fokker D.VII 4-color "cookie cutter" wing decals with center panel and lozenge rib tapes

Please note that these decals are translucent. To represent "new" lozenge fabric, the surfaces to receive decals must be glossy white. Weathering can be achieved by changing the underlying color or adding washes, etc., before or after the decals are applied, as long as the decals are applied to a glossy surface. Of course, weathering can be done after the decals have been applied.

The cookie cutter decals are designed for the Wingnut Wings Fokker D.VII kits. I can attest to their excellent fit. One must be cautious to allow the decal to release from the backing paper so the decal is not stretched. The detail shot is of a lower wing with 4-color lozenge, lilac tapes.

Still to come:

5-color cookie cutter lozenge decals for the Wngnut Wings Fokker D.VII

Cookie cutter wing decals for all kits where lozenge would be appropriate.

Cookie cutter tail surface decals for aeroplanes with undecorated lozenge surfaces.

45 degree angled joined bolts for wing applications such as the SSW D.III and others.

"Worn" lozenge for that favorite war weary airframe.

Opaque lozenge rib tapes.

All of the above in 1/48, 1/72, and 1/144 scales.
Kindly tell all your WWI aeroplane modeling friends!

As a friend says, between the excellent kits and wide array of aftermarket accessories (like Aviattic decals), we are living in the Golden Age of WWI modeling!

Thanks for reading this far.
Have Fun!!

I've just used some of this on an on-going DVIIF I'm building, both the cookie cut and separate bolt type *doing Eric Just's A/C and wanted the difference in wing lozenge to show) I've used Wood & Wire's too but there's is rather faded and is set aside for my next DVII (fok) build . Both have excellent qualities. Both are excellent replacements for WNW's garish lozenge and both are very thin & settle with incredible ease over curves and details. Both of course have some drawbacks. The Aviattic is very strong, but tends to stretch if handled roughly (Mr Sausage fingers here.) Wood & Wire's are more delicate require a coat or two of clear before use (I may need to find a better clear laquer than that I've used.) and require care when fitting but that faded look the new stuff has is just lovely. I think everyone will have a personal choice to make but with such excellent choices No one should complain. Both knck WNW's loz into a cocked hat.

Ira sent this along after seeing our news item. "Wow--thank you! Another friend pointed out (politely and indirectly) what a bonehead I am. All that and NO PRICE! The decals are priced at $14.95 for a full A4 sheet plus actual postage and materials. (I do not believe in making money on shipping, so postage is actual USPS plus cost of materials.) Having done a lot of looking into Fokker streaking practices, I feel I am ready to revamp the streaked decals with original artwork. I'll let you know when I'm ready to move 'em. In the meantime, I am having a blast with a few Wingnut Wings kits and Aviattic lozenge. I had been working on my own lozenge decal project when I caught wind of Aviattic's efforts. They were far enough ahead of me to make me see I was reinventing the wheel, so to speak. Now, about a year later, they found a brand-spankin' new printer that could produce just what they want. I feel it is worth the wait. I hope I am not alone! Thanks again!"
