Master Details From USA have just a few sets left of their upgrade for the Trumpeter F-100D.
Hello Modeler of the Trumpeter F-100 Super Sabre!
The progressive build article we’re running on our web site has been met with great enthusiasm by those of you who are building the Trumpeter F-100D Super Sabre kit. This progressive build article is located in the new “How We Build Models” section of our web site bay clicking on the appropriate icons. Our goal is to reproduce a detailed and accurate representation in miniature of an F-100D (RHAW) Super Sabre that served with the Missouri Air National Guard in the mid 1970’s.
In order to depict the main and nose wheels and tires, main outer landing gear doors, tail skid and hydraulic actuating arm accurately on our model, it became necessary to make prototype molds with which to resin copies of new fabricated or modified parts for our own project. We offered special sets of these parts to our viewers on a limited first come, first served basis (see attachment). The response was overwhelming. To all of you who purchased the special parts set, thank you. In future additions to the F-100D build article, we will be showing you how to make those parts even more detailed and realistic.
We have received email inquiries asking of this special set will be applicable to the upcoming F-100F twin seat Super Sabre that Trumpeter has announced. We have no way of knowing for certain if Trumpeter will correct all that is wrong with the kit parts we have corrected and replaced, but our guess is they won’t. Both the real F-100D and F-100F aircraft share identical landing gears and, since the cost of making new injection molds is high even in China, we suspect they’ll simply insert the same sprues for those parts in the new kit. What we are certain of is that the limitations of injection molding will not allow for the high level of detail in our resin parts even if they do correct the deficiencies. So in short, yes, this special set will apply to the new kit as well.
The molds for this set are depleted and have been ground up for disposal. We have only five special sets left on hand for those who may want another set for the future release from Trumpeter. Once those special sets are sold, there will be no future molds made because those parts were not intended for our regular product line. Because this special set will not be assigned an SKU number, it cannot be sold through our online shopping cart. As before, you may purchase it through PayPal with the email address of mailto:[email protected]?subject=F-100D SPECIAL PARTS SET #1. If you don’t use Microsoft Outlook for your email program, use only [email protected].
We’re working on the next installment of the F-100D progressive build article now. You will receive an email announcement when we have it posted on our site. Thank you for you interest in this project and HAPPY MODELING!
