Great Wall Hobby have built a fine reputation for their military kits, and I was very impressed by the company's useful Lion Roar 1:48 WW2 aircraft generic detail sets and modelling accessories. Now they are all set to make a bold move into aircraft kit production - and their first kit is a subject that's long been on Luftwaffe modellers' wish-lists as a mainstream kit - the Focke-Wulf Fw 189.
Great Wall Hobby have provided artwork of the parts layouts and 3D CAD images that reveal nicely detailed engines, undercarriage and cockpit, separate control surfaces and flaps, plus a maintenance platform. Decals appear to offer a choice of 2 colour schemes. Kit #L4803 is due for release in early October, but there are no details of price and availability yet. Aeroscale will be following this exciting release closely, so watch out for a review soon.

With another quarterscale Fw 189 also on the way from the Ukraine, this year looks set to be a great one for fans of the Uhu!

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.

Hi Jean-Luc Excellent photos! Aside from the shape of the glazing, the detail of the hand-holds is really useful. All the best Rowan

Hello, now ICM completion of the FW 189 All work also actively conducts is conducted on the basis of the original technical information. On the Russian site LINK are discussed if at whom that is questions on a technical aspect, can address to me, I am ready in to send all information on an e-mail. The Chinese model is far from perfect, there it is a lot of lacks. For example, cowls cast together with a tail beam. But there there should be cracks of cooling of the motor, . It is possible to result many discrepancies. I am sorry for my English language, I though live in the USA but I talk mainly in Russian

arrived a bit late on this interesting thread ...but I have some more from the set of reference images that Jean-Luc posted, plus some stills from a Russian training film http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2010/11/focke-wulf-189-reference-pics-for-new.html as for the more 'political' comments, it just seems like straight forward economics to me. A Great Wall Hobby kit is designed to make money for Great Wall Hobby. If ICM produce a Fw 189 kit, then that kit will (obviously) not make any money for Great Wall hobby. Besides ICM are already established in the market, GWH are not. Both companies deserve our support..
