Alley Cat have announced some exciting releases for the new year. I am really looking forward to the Tucano and the Swift releases. Here's the news release:
Well first of all there will be the Spitfire Mk. XVI conversion in 1/32 scale with the SAAF markings as mentioned previously, all being well these should be available before Christmas.
As an added bonus though we have had the SAAF Spitfire decals printed in 1/72 and 1/48 scale as well, and these will be available as standalone decal sheets. I am sure these will be popular as they will offer something a little different for your Mk XVI Spitfires, with some varied colour schemes.
The rest of the future releases will now follow into 2011, a few of which are in advanced stages but are awaiting decals and for the instructions to be finalised. The release dates cannot be guaranteed at this point, but as listed below will hopefully be the order that they are released in, starting around mid January.
The biggest and most eagerly awaited kit will be the Shorts Tucano in 1/48 scale. Initially there will be two kits released, one will have the 2010 schemes included for the two aircraft that carried the ‘retro’ Spitfire markings, and the second has markings for 6 different aircraft in the overall black scheme. This will be a multi media kit and will be mastered and manufactured to the same high standard of all our models and sets and will be on equal terms to our 1/72 AEW Gannet that was released more than a year ago, that is still being sold on a regular basis. With this kit we are designing it to be a well detailed but to include a couple of features that will assist ease of assembly and to ensure that a stunning model will be the end result.
Following on in February and March we will have three new 1/72 scale multi-media kits of the Supermarine Swift there will be three separate kits to allow for variations between them in fuselage and wing designs. There will be an F.1, a F.2 - F.4 and finally an F.7.
Last but not least a joint venture between Alley Cat and Freightdog will see the release of 1/72 scale multi-media kit of the Boulton Paul Balliol T.2 and T.21. [sic]
