Some exciting new releases for the new year from Afterburner. Some very useful stencils for the F-4. One of those aircraft that at points in it's long career practically had a maintenance manual stenciled on the airframe. The other release is for the Tomcats of VF-103 the Sluggers. I will let the good folk at Afterburner sell their products.
F-4 Stencils
Cat no 48-072.
Price $15.00
When it comes to providing the modeler with the extra little “oomph” of things that just set their model apart, nobody touches us. One of the things we REALLY love here is stencils.
Maintenance stencils lots of times make a really nice build into something truly special as it adds that something extra that says you created a true miniature replica…a work of art. As most modelers will attest, NOTHING looks as cool as an F-4 COVERED with stencils…its one of the hallmarks of the Phabulous Phantom. They just look “off” unless they are plastered with stencils. We undertook this project with the help of some of the very best minds in the F-4 world, and armed with manuals and a mound of pictures, started to draw the quintessential set of F-4 stencils.
What you now have available, is something truly state of the art. If you have enough magnification, the printing technology we have available allows us to produce the smallest lettering clear and legible. Combined with an unprecedented layout of instructions as to where to stick what stencils, will allow you to capture that awesome “look” of an SEA scheme F-4…right down to the NO STEP on the ejection seat cushion…nothing was left out. One complete…and we mean complete, aircraft can be done with this set, including national insignia, weapons pylons, inside of gear doors and speedbrakes and ejection seats. [sic]
F-14: VF-103 Sluggers.
Cat no: 48-071.
Price: $20.00
LONG awaited sheet covering the F-14s of VF-103…the original VF-103 Sluggers, before they were “appropriated” by the Jolly Rogers.
103 had a rich history all of its own, and their jets were among the sweetest looking ‘cats in the fleet for many years. They flew a combat cruise during Desert Storm attached to AW-17 on the Saratoga, and those A+ GE engined jets are represented, as well as their transition to the B model jets in the mid 90s, the As from the mid/late 80s, and the GORGEOUS final schemes from their final days as the “Sluggers” equipped with FLIR pods, including the nose art jet “FLIR CAT”.
This is a tremendous accounting of their markings covering a span of 10 years of operation, and 3 F-14 versions. Stencils for 2 aircraft are included as well as our usual array of weapons load out information and information of the major version differences.[sic]
