Mike, Nicely done. Also really like your approach to the exhaust staining. I can see some possibilities where it would come in handy.

Mike, Nice. I always appreciate photos real or otherwise, that show a model in a realistic manner. Well done.

Hello everyone.

I might be a bit late on this but I am going on holidays over the next two weeks and I picked up the Italeri SBD-5 Dauntless at a pre-Christmas boot sale. So I'll give it a crack before 31 January.

Welcome Steve.
Down to the wire, but with a lot of work, you should be able to pull it off. I believe that the Italeri kit is the old Accurate Miniatures kit. Excellent model.

Thanks Joel. From my reading I understand it to be the AM kit too.

Got a start on it before heading off to New Years by washing it in warm soapy water.

Happy New Year to all

I am having quite a time of it to paint this thing. It brings to mind the old memory, 'The further she gets, the better she looks'.
Since she is in drying time prior to a good soap and water washdown, then an attempt to correct my evil painting ways, I thought I'd flood the thread with photos.

I actually thought I'd have this done before the New Year. With all the corrections required, though, it will be some days before completion.
I'm still very happy with it.

Happy New Year, everyone!!!

Ben, it's not that hard of a fix, but do a little prep work so it doesn't happen again. Using Tamiya tape, lightly mask off the black rudder, then air brush the yellow with Pledge. Give it a hour to dry, then mask off and using 600 paper feather out the black where the paint lifted. Change tape, and repaint. You're done.

I've never heard of that before, Joel. Think I'll give it a try. But if it comes out lemony fresh, I'll blame you.

Bye the way. The black rudder is actually green, which will be better seen when I put on the black leading edges. I know my photo lighting isn't all that great. Every color looks different in the photos than what they are in reality.

well now, Ive wrapped up two other campaigns tonight, and Ive just been catching up on what been going on in this thread - wow there are some beautiful models here!
Ben that green and yellow is looking great! Mike Taylor that Skyraider is glorious! Warren, love the Dutch Orange DB8A bomber, another unusual and interesting subject!
Impressive number of other projects underway!

I just need to dig down into my much lightened kit bag... oh boy...

barely started, and only 31 days left...wha...

and a hanger queen begging to be finished...

Sabena is one of my favorite airlines but the DC-4 is destined for the same drab gray and white US Army scheme the C-47 is getting. still have to design and print the decals...

Alright then. I have almost the entire month of January off, plenty of firewood in the shed, nothing else on the docket, so its time to get out the Miliput.

Hi there,
yesterday the first styrene was cut for my entry to this splendid campaign. It will be another Skyraider, this one in 1/72 and with markings of the South Vietnam Air Force.
I hope my old decals will still work, then it will become the personal airplane of the late Gen. Ngyuen Cao Ky.

Cheers and a happy New Year to everybody here!

I had so much fun doing the North Star for the Then and Now campaign that I've just had to dig out my half-finished Minicraft DC-4 and finish the beast. Today's session had me close up the fuselage, add the tailplanes, fit the engines to the wings, add nose weight and glue everything together. Here's the primer drying on it

It's going to wear the United markings from the box.

Primer on the DC-4's undersides

I got an engine front off centre. That may cause a difficulty or two come final assembly. Perhaps I need to pop it off and redo it. Luckily I have spare engines available from the North Star conversion.

Roden's DC-3 needs a modicum of filer

I filled in the door outline because my subject was a C-47 conversion which used the C-47's passenger door.

Keep up the good work Jessica.
What make of filler do you use?
My entry for this campaign should be finished Saturday.

My preferred filler is 3M's Bondo glazing and spot putty available at Canadian Tire. It's much like Squadron Green Stuff except it's red and a fraction of the price.

This is my completed entry to this campaign.
Douglas DC-2 "Jan Van Gent" KLM 1939
Orange finish was applied and marking at all angles, this was due to the Netherlands being at this time Neutral and not wanting their aircraft shot down!

The model is by CMR resin model and the scale is 1:144

Richard, Really quite a impressive paint and decaling effort. Just a build extremely well done.

Jessica, I'm still using up a tube of Green Stuff, then going back to Bondo. Green stuff shrinks as it dries, Bondo doesn't shrink, and becomes rock hard, yet it's easy to sand and shape. A tube will last for years. Then again, a tube of Green Stuff lasts me years too.
