Render anything you think might sell. Start a livkstarter for each rendering and promote the heck out of it on fora. That's what I'd do

Sounds like a good idea. Get pics of everything on any forum your on. Those lovely DC's and Bloodhound missiles and anything else you do. Whatever people like, run with and produce. Might want to consider getting samples to magazines for review and there's always Novembers big IPMS show in Telford to consider if you want a LOT of people to see what you make.

like a kickstarter project, because in that way you can filter out those who like to talk and those who are actually interested.

That is exactly what I mean.

In my view, there is not hing as "no market" for things like the bloodhound provided that the quality is on par with what modellers are used to these days. (I hope I am not wrong on this one).

From your posts, I think that you have a background in prototype building where quick reaction time is extremily important.

For this market I think that many people can wait a bit (we all have exagerated stacks anyway). Here you should concentrate on quality, and keeping the price reasonable

and you could have a double approach:

a lower price for those that subscribe to a resin cast and are prepared to wait until the list reaches e.g. 30 subscriptions (or a maximum of 6 months delay).

a higher price for the "i want it now" people and are prepared to pay a premium for a 3D print.

Posts on a forum will soon no longer be good enough; You need to go professional, not only on designing and producing models, but also on selling and distributing them.

If your publicity is limited to fora then you could bump soon in a negative reaction of those communities or site owners.

If all producers start using fora as free publicity channel then this could ruin the whole forum with "look how marvellous we are" threads that no-one wants to read.

Our reason to join forums is two fold, the first is to let people know that there is a 3D Printing company out there that is ready to listen to their requests and secondly to find out what those requests are. We prefer not to discuss prices etc here but rather discuss what models people want so we can create them for people. Without forums we would have no way of getting in touch with the very people we need to inform us on what to build and in what scales. I don't want to shout about how great we are, our models speak for themselves, we are really only interested in what forum members want and we then, to the best of our abilities manufacture then in ways that are affordable to us which may include non 3D Printed materials if we feel its something as a company we want to explore.

Hi Adam

How about a Miles M.52 in 1:72 and 1:48? The canopy would be straightforward and it's an iconic British "opportuny lost".

All the best

Adam, when can I buy a Bloodhound??

Incidentally. I thought of the brass ring.

The Sea Duck!

I know for a fact there's an appetite for this on the webs. 1/72 say.

Do you have any interest in printing figures, in any genre, from 1/350 and 1/200 (for model ships), to 1/72, 1/48, 1/35, and 1/32 / 54mm? Or even larger?

Absolutely, what did you have in mind? I went to a model shop yesterday and the 1200 scale characters were pretty poor detail level, the cars too. A 1:200 character is about 8mm tall and we can get some decent detail on models of that size and would recommend a small base to help them stand unless you are gluing them down. We have done 100's of 28mm characters, about 50 7mm characters and everything above that.

Something that is definitely required are 1/24 scale 60lb Rocket projectiles for the Airfix Mosquito kit; they are the only items that need replacing in the kit. I'm guessing that these could be printed so that the clips will slide over the rails as per the real things? They would need thin profile fins though but if that isn't possible then just the war heads and the clips as individual units and then the rocket bodies and fins could be sourced elsewhere. In fact these in 1/32 and 1/48 and maybe even in 1/72 scale would be good as even the best ones out there at the moment don't even have the spanner flats on the nose.
I'm intrigued to know what can be done and from what you have said so far these should be a doddle?

This very interesting topic seems to have died a silent death?

Is anyone aware of what happened to that bloodhound idea?

I had intended to buy a pack of the 1/72 Depth Charges. I have a Halifax and a few other builds which I could make use of them and £15 for a pack of 16 is a more than reasonable price I thought.
Then I came to the checkout and discovered that p&p was a staggering £10! For something that can be put in a jiffy bag?
I had meant to PM Adam for some clarification on that, but with life and work being so hectic the last 6 months I never got the chance.

Hi Stephen

£10 UK P&P is going to frighten anyone off. Hopefully, that was a glitch on their website, so you should drop Adam a line.

I cancelled a purchase from Hannants last week due to a £5 "Isle of Wight" surcharge on a standard delivery; it's total nonsense - Royal Mail don't charge any extra to deliver here.

All the best

I just had another look and it's still saying £10 delivery. Oddly on all products to any worldwide destination. Very strange, must be a c**k up.
I'm still having trouble working out Hannant's insistence on charging extra for paints. I know Royal Mail are supposed to be a bit funny about it now, but it can be worked around with careful packaging. I've had paint from WEM at no extra p&p charge posted in jiffy bags. Other traders have been known to do the same. But that's another conversation and off topic. My bad.

Looking at he prices that they ask for a tiny model in 1/500 scale, I am affraid that they have come to the conclusion that a 1/48 scale bloodhound would be so expensive that no-one would buy it.

Or, they have found a much more lucrative market and have forgotten all about us

Hi Everyone,
We usually get emails letting us know when the forum has new posting but these started ending up in our junk mail folder so apologies for not updating you all sooner. We have been having quite a few teething problems with the logistics side of things and so we have moved away from printing in batch and then posting items ourselves. We now use a European company (Holland) to print and post all models. They set the prices and the postage costs (we have no control over the postage costs). I appreciate that for small orders the postage costs are oftentimes more than the item itself but the postage costs do not increase (are forever fixed) no matter if you order 100g or 25kg of models.

The Bloodhound is now ready. We have test printed it to ensure its all perfect and the renders and photos can all be found here:

Bristol Bloodhound SAM https://flic.kr/s/aHsjVCTHnR

Prices are just being worked out at the minute for the two material options i.e white polished or transparent.

Please feel free to email me on [email protected] should you have any questions or comments.

Astonishing. I want one. I will buy one. But I have to ask: Is 1/48 an option? If so how much??
