Finishing touches were to add some enemy fire "strikes" to the aircraft. Using a micro drill I placed "hits" where I thought they'd do the most good (lots of imagination used here) then added oil leakage and burn marks.
As a final addition, I realized a pilot leaving the crash site would help balance the scene. I used a figure from Prieser's Luftwaffe Personnel assortment and slightly modified his body position to show a quickened pace.

This attempt got me past some of my fears and I have a couple of other similar dios in work that hopefully you'll see soon.

I like the dio, I've been thinking of doing one of maybe the Apaches that went down in Iraq, but I'm afraid i may overdue the damage, and I haven't seen any pictures of their crash sites
