Congrats to you on your promotion Jesper.
This looks like a good campaign and I really want to see it happen. The idea for this campaign originally came from Steffen Arndt, so I can't take credit for it.
I will propose it. It looks like we have 16 people interested.
Phillip, are you volunteering for 2IC?

This is what I will be sending in as a proposal early next week. Let me know if you want to reccomend any changes.
Since the pioneering days of aircraft, the quest for more power in the development of aircraft could easily be solved by adding a second engine. However, this often created new problems that often counteracted the extra gain in power. There were some unique and innovative designs created that paved the way for future designs. This campaign celebrates those aircraft designed to be twin spinners.
The rules are simple.
1. Any aircraft of any era will be acceptable if it has two engines and two propellers. Unusual and colorful aircraft are encouraged, but they must meet the two engine and two propeller requirement. Sorry, no jets or aircraft with more than two engines and propellers
2. In progress build picture should be posted as well as completed pictures are encouraged.
3. Dioramas and multiple entries will be accepted, but only one campaign ribbon will be awarded
4. Have fun.
A really cool and colorful Campaign Ribbon will be awarded to all participant who successfully complete this campaign.
Phillipus will serve as the Air Adjutant (Second in Command)

Do the twin props and engine still actually have to be physically attached to the aircraft? i.e. could they be off for servicing / repair / crashed but sitting next to it?
Sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult here. I mean a hanger or crash scene...

I have a few choices, Beaufighter Night Fighter version, bf110E or a Do335.
Not sure yet but I think I am going to go with the Beaufighter.

I am thinking a ME 110, HE 111 and/or a Chinook if horisontal twin spinners are allowed? Under all circumstances I am in

That would be good to go. The aircraft was designed to fly with two engines and props.
What do you guys think about helicopters? Should an airframe with two engines and two rotors be allowed? I think it puts a nice spin on the twin spinner theme, and should be allowed.

I agree. Helicopters are well within the spirit of this campaign. I know there will probably be duplicates, but as leader, I want to allow other participants the first choice. I am leaning towards doing a Do 335.
We are almost on our third page on this thread, and I haven't even sent in the proposal yet. This ought to be a good campaign. I will send the proposal in tonite.

Excellent Carl, are you putting yourself forward as leader?
I'd be happy with allowing helicopters although I won't build one myself.
Now to decide what bird to build, I'll leave the 110E & C as I can imagine alot of people will ant to do those. Azur Potez 63.11 or Dornier 217 is where I'm thinking right now.

You can lead it if you want to. I have the Battle for Europe Campaign I am trying to get together, as well as a 1/32 Thud build for a former Thud Pilot, and a few campaign builds. In my spare time I was thinking about sleeping.
Helicopters will be in as long as they meet the other requirements.

Is the start date correct for this campaign? Just wondering--4 months might not be enough for me(work and other necessities)
Posted: Wednesday, December 05, 2007 - 08:26 PM UTC
Hi again
Good point - that might be a bit short for some of the builds people have mentioned (6 months might be more reasonable?) Actually, it's not unheard of for extensions on the finish date in campaigns if enough people are struggling to complete their entries.
All the best
