I am almost there... Still some detail painting and weathering to do and I also worry what the canopy will look like when I pull off the masking.
Build blog is here!

Wow, nice P-39, JP. The white recognition markings really add some colour to the camouflage and breaks up the overall olive drab.
Nice progress, Magnus. Looking forward to see more.

I'm getting there... Lot's of small details to go...
Thanks for the supersonic drop tanks, Magnus! I decided to keep them a little rough, since I guess that they took some beating over the years.
Only a few days to go, guys!

Hi all!
Finally I´m getting somewhere with the Viggie!
Now it was time to paint the beast, so I painted all white areas and then I masked off for the light gull grey.
The demarcation between the white and grey should be a well defined, but not really hard edge.
Time to get the blue-tack out!
I wanted a rather fine edge so I rolled a long "worm", about 5mm in diameter.
Then I tacked it on the aircraft;
I used the Light Gull Grey from White Ensign.
This is a big ac so I used almost 1/2 of a new tin!
The masking was quite successful, no major disasters!
I used tape on the topside of the wing to get a really sharp and straight edge as the original ac was painted this way.
Tailcone;
..and this is the final result after demasking;
Pretty hard, but not too sharp demarkation, just perfect!
Finally I painted the nosecone red for the VAH-12 Speartips.
As a mask I used a big plastic bag, looks somewhat funny, but it works perfectly!
It worked;
Finally, I glued the flaps in place.
Not much left to do now, but I will not be done until the 15th!
Cheers!
Stefan

Well after a mighty struggle the Mirage IIIR is finished. It is a 1/32 Revell kit with heaps of Tamiya in it.. putty that is..
Sorry for the quality of the first shot but there are all those cameras.. :-)
And some cameras on the left side of the aircraft.
Looks like it is doing a milliom mph just sitting still!
I was lucky I remembered I could build the recon version using the old Revell kits I had stashed away. They are still lovely looking aircraft and is was a sad day when the last one ceased flying while I was in the RAAF.

Amazing speed, Warren! I had some hope of finishing my Mirage ahead of yours, but you beat me to it! Do you have any larger photos? I would love to see more pictures of the whole aircraft!
Stefan - Do you know when you will be able to finish? A couple of days more? It looks like a mighty big aircraft that you are working with...

Your wish is my command... :-)
Not the best photos due to being on a white background, and I am running out of space in my Gallery so they have to be small.
Enjoy!!

Thanks, Warren!!! Great looking Mirage!
Personally, I managed to get some work done this evening, finishing up the cockpit and adding some detail.
Still some minor work to do. Hopefully, I'll manage to add some sidewinders before the deadline...
I just had to put this Mirage next to my previous one... I love this aircraft!!!
Hopefully, next post will be of the finished model!

Finished!!!
I opted against adding sidewinders at this stage - partly because I was not sure which version that would be best suited, and partly because on all the reference pictures that I have found (mainly in the extraordinary book - IAF 101 first fighter squadron - by Shlomo Aloni) the Tzniut was flown without missiles.
AML provides you with the 48 inch HR-308T long-range oblique photography camera (thus fulfilling the requirement of this campaign)
Such a pretty couple, don't you think?! :-)
This weekend, I'll be working on the ribbon and a summary of this campaign. This should be posted during next week, so keep your eyes open. For you that have not yet finished - you'ld better get going!

Lots of sleek Mirages here now. I have to admit that Warrens Swissie as a nicer nose, but like Barbara Streisand, Björns has character. They're both nice builds, but I have to applause Björn for the fighting spirit. Will we see a third of the same make.....?

Just gave a wash on the Su-12.. before going to work this morning..
This Kopro Su-12 is the worst kit I ever made, never saw such a bad kit, awful fitting, the glass parts were a nightmare, crude interior. The only average thing were the decals.
My skills didn't help either.. but it's a trashy kit anyway, don't recommend it to anyone..

Tony: Mmmmmm, Barbara.....
No, I'm definitely not planning to build any more AML Mirages at this point (even though I have one more kit)!!! Someday, I hope to build a Kfir (I might just build a very long-nosed TC-2 Kfir for the two-seat trainer campaign! - It's either that or trying to rescribe the ol' Heller Viggen for an SK 37). I also have the AML Avia S-199 Sakeen - I suppose you're building one of those for the striped campaign...?
John - Now we just have to see that SU-12!!! Post pictures pronto, please!!!

I too have another Mirage in the stash. Same kit etc but this one is unstarted.. I have never really liked Barbara personally and that nose, while interesting, does mar the otherwise sleek lines of the lovely Mirage.
My next Mirage, for the La Mar-wheelbarrow campaign, will be the Mirage IIIO as used by the RAAF in the 60's, 70's and 80's. The Revell kit came with a nice set of decals for two RAAF aircraft, one with an experimental camo scheme, the other the standard scheme with 79SQN markings. The Mirages were transferred to 79SQN after we started getting the F/A-18s, nicest aircraft I have ever flown!
Hopefully some more pics to come from other participants.
John.... where did you get your Su-12? I sold one on Ebay a few months ago.. luckily!

Hi Björn!
I need only a few days!
I had the decals on today, did some touch-ups and a little weathering.
If I have the time, I´ll give her a matt-coat tomorrow and get the few "dangly" bits on!
So, I guess tomorrow or the day after, she´ll be ready to go on her first mission!
Cheers!

That would give me a little more time to play, so it would be perfect!
Thanks skipper!

Magnus: I guess the inappropriate comment would be "Nice set of wheels. And cool engines on them!" Nice model of an odd plane, anyway. And the blog was entertaining as well.

Nice work everyone it's been a pleasure flying with you all. Fast, rugged, purpose built or jury rigged. Thanks for running this GB Bjorn you got quite a few late finishers to up the numbers, and warreni with his lightning quick build is a force of nature.
And not a dab of PRU colour among us. Who'd have thunk that when you started it!

Glad you like it, the blog is a lot better than the result !
I can see why people get obsessed with German aircraft, there are quite a few very unconventional types to build!
