Terri
Now you are the "Jedi” of wood graining. I don’t now if we can get better result by not authorised medical drugs in this hobby, but I have my suspicions, my guess is that cat eyes watching your progress. Awesome work with the grains my friend

may the grains flow with you

The wood grain looks good Terri and yes, it has to be better then waiting for oils to dry *kornbeef is a far to impatient soul ever to make Jedi standards LOL

great work Terri and thanks BTW

Waiting for oils to dry is the path my friend, that´s graining the Jedi in you.

Stephen , thanks for your feed back . A mixer of both colours will be used to bring out the details kind of like meeting half way ! Great shot on your build . I didn't know the rear bulk head was also covered in lozenge .

Lars , the wood grain was a whole new method for me , trying different shades . So far I'm finding that I'm getting good results just using acrylics and model master paints . Slowly working my way up to be able to a full wood grain on the fusealge in future builds . I always avoid this do to the lack of experience .

Thanks Keith , I will not be throwing anything across the pond ( can't throw that far ) . Shaving ! isn't that something that guys do ? I was going to sand off the detail , but I didn't have any plastic stripes to redo the frame work and since this was to be out of box , well mostly . Hopefully my painting skills will bring out the detail of the frame work .

Some were done in lozenge some were done in plain linen. The wings were done separately to the fuselage so there may have been a mixture where the bulkhead covering did not match the wing covering.

Lars , the Cat is one of my Jedi students and goes my the name of Blau .

So Stephen , having that panel paint wood would be incorrect then ? It should be cover in fabic , yes ?

Not much of any work was done , just toying with the seat belts . once they are in place next will be the oil and gas tank a long with spark wires and springs for the engine and yes bolts added as well . When I have some more work done pic's will be up ...................

I had some time this morning before I go to work . I started off using the kits seat belts and adding hardware that was missing with Tom's Models Works Greman cockpits fret . Did work out that way , carpet monster ended up with some of those tiny little bits which are lost forever ! Plan B was in effect , Eduards line of Greman seat belts was used . Didn't even have to paint them !For the achoring mounts I used rivet heads from Grant line ( train stuff ) .
I didn't add a cushion ( don't have any expoy putty ) . The seat is also from Eduards PE set of WW1 seats . Weathering still has to be , but not at this time . The compass is from the kit .

Hey Terri,
Wood effect on the interior parts is looking great!
Looks just like light varnished ply.

Cheers,

Now you tell me that Stephen ! The doc said the same thing and as it turns out , He also builds models !

No Kalt , it wasn't that bad of injury , just don't have the use of my thumb for a few days . Only had to get two stitches one side to pull the muscle back together and one to close the wound .

I have done some work on the engine . value springs have been added and one side for the spark plug wires . Will have pic's up soon ...................

Good morning Guy's ! Here are the pic's of what I have been able to get done . Still working on the control column and rudder bar as well as other smaller details . ( sips coffee , mmmmm this is good stuff . ) A wash has been applied except for the engine , haven't made it that far yet .

I've been trying different tapes for rib taping and have found the perfect stuff . It's thinner then the tamiya tape and clear tape . Paper first aid tape !

Control surfaces have been cut out and I messed one of them up . i do have spare wings from many D.III kits so I will rob the replacemant ones for there .

Was able to get some time in front of the work bench today . I added the pulleys and the rudder bar , cables , hand pump , and other bits to the left side .
The pulleys are a little on the high side and I'm sorry for that . the next one I do will be done lower . I'm half way finished now before I close up the fusealge I also cut out the inspection panel on the left top side of the cowl and will replace that with a PE part in the open postion .

Well that's it so far for now ...............................

Looking great there Terri - maybe I should drill through my hand too, looks like it helps

Interesting rib tapes - do they stick on strongly? I'm looking for something similar for my SE5 project.

Thanks Brad ! I don't recommend that you put a drill bit into your hand ! It really hurts to start with and not having the use of my thumb made it a real challenge for building . It did take a while to figure out how to do the pulleys , the one mounted on the left side has a small spacer behind it giving the look of floating in space , when the halves are joined every thing lines up perfect . The rudder bar has 9 pieces to it .

The tape works really well , sticks good with no lifting yet . a few coats of future on top to seal will greatly help . Can also get this in plastic first aid tape , but I haven't tried that one yet . This is what I got from the Doc so I don't know the brand name of it . I'm sure that a local drug store will have this . more to come on this ................

The panel on the right has been fitted . The handles I made by flatten plastic rod and shape them with a blade .

This is the control column so far . A few more bits have to be added then paint .
