Thanks Keith , still have some more work to do in that area , which I don't think I could get anything more in there ! some things are just to small for my skills at this time . I might not be 100% correct on some things in there , but it is a better repentation on what Eduard had . Just love their older kits , good base for practicing doing things by scratch .
Glad you guy's are enjoying this so far as much as I'm in building it .

I have few questions here on which I need some help . Before I start painting the airframe does any one know of where there is side view drawings to help with the location of the stripes on the fusealge ?
For the main wings the tops are white , are the under sides the same as well or would this be light blue or lozenge ?

But not too shabby either. You just need more light.
Build is looking spectacular by the way.

Terri, I'll be happy if my 1/32 Alb DI looks as detailed and well done as this when its done. You just nailed it right I think, the wood colour inside looks excellent in the pics.
I noticed your inlet manifold, As I'm about to paint and detail my engine. were they made of copper/brass or such? Everything always seems to be painted in ref pics.
Keith

Thanks Kalt ! Now comes the fun part , masking the stripes !
Keith , your alb will turn out just fine , are we going to see pic's of it ? For making the valve springs and spark plug wires , steel lamp cord was used . Valve springs should be painted black , but I find even when dry brushed the detail doesn't really show up so I left them bare . Thanks for the kind words .

Just a small up date of what I did last night .
The rudder will be fix into place once the blue has been sprayed and ready to do the white .
I should be able to start spraying over the weekend and have the stripes and fuselage decals on .
So thats it for now .................

Starting to the stripes the other day and pulled off the masking tape last night . Tossed my hands up in the air , same with the kit to the back of the work bench and called it a night .
Here are the results of that ...........
This side turned out really great . Very happy with the out come , not to bad at all
another pic of the same side ( i like this side )
Now this is where this went south for me
Paint lifted in a few spots and my one line is off messing up the one below .
The rear planes got it as well .
I do have a plan for fixing this mishap . Clear gloss will go on to help level the surface off and re do the masking in the areas that need it and re spray again .

Ouch! that looks nasty Terri, a lot of work to patch, more though to strip back and respray.....maybe let it harden a while between coats, see sometime old slowcoaches like moi have advantages LOL

Yeah , I'm not sure with Testors model Master acrylics . This is the second time I have tried their paints with the same end results . but yet no problems with the Polly scale !
It can be fix though ! Two coats of gloss lacquer have been sprayed and will redo the blue seal it again before I do the white stripes . I would strip it back , but I'm a little worried abut the chemicals running into the cockpit .

Aww jeez, that is a pain. What paints, and tape are you using?
So I don't run into the same problems. It is a nice vivid blue though.
The fokker D.7 worked just fine didn't it?

Hi JP , I used Testors Model Master acrylic paints and Tamiya masking tape . What really hurts is I spent 3 hours doing the masking ! Not sure if it's me or the paints , but I'll stay with the polly scale and tamiya paints .

Okay , on to plan C now . I ended up having to strip the whole thing . I did respray the blue which ended in it cracking on the surface . So re do the prime and this time I will try the white first followed by the blue and see where this takes me . I'm getting ready to toss this one in the trash , but not just yet !

Hi Terri!
Sorry you are having such problems with the paints. It might be that the primer and paint is not getting long enough to really dry out hard before you tape and paint the next color. Oh, and usually you should paint the lighter colours first. It takes less paint for a dark color to cover a light color than the other way around.
Please forgive me if you already know these things, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
Terri, your build is looking great and your painting of the interior wood treatment and all those stripes without a lot of bleed is remarkable.
Keep up the great work,
Dave

Terri,
First I must tell you I am extremely impressed with your build. Your attention to detail is great and the finish of the interior is excellent. As for the Testors acrylics, I have had the same problem. I now just avoid using them if ANY masking is required!

Small up -date . White has been spray since this morning . Masking the stripes begins .
Thanks Dave , nothing to forgive . I should have done the white first . I figuared it would be easier to see the masking lines on a darker surface . Would have work if it wasn't for the paint I was using .
Same trouble as well Rick , at least I'm not a lone on this paint thing . It is something I will be doing in the future with these paints . Thanks for the words of support .
( no it will NOT be going in the trash )

Same thing has happened with the blue paint , cracking once again .
Plan C . Masking has been left on and future has been applied to seal . blue will be resprayed once more .
This is turning out to be very frustrating project paint wise .
Any suggestion would be most helpful at this time !

I had to strip it back once more yet again , TMM has been tossed in the trash and I will try mixing my own colour using Tamiya's paints .

Hi Terri -
Geez that's rough!! Sometimes, it seems like modeling can be a lesson in futility!
I've usually just stuck with Tamiya acrylics myself. Never had cracking problems, but the others seem to bleed more often. Hang in there and keep up the AWESOME work!

Terri, so sorry to hear it all went yuck again :-(
maybe the solvents in the paint havent time to evaporate, I can only suggest leaving it while longer tween coats... not like me tho... weeks can pass.
I admire you for sticking at it.....I would have been sulking and the kit puhed aside with a cry of ...."its the top shelf for you matey!"
:) think happy thoughts!

Okay guy's , back on track with this one . I spent quit a bit of time mixing my own shade with oils this time . not even close to what cobalt blue is to be , but I find this shade to be very appealing and will look sharp with the white . I sprayed the blue first to make masking the stripes easier for me . Flat white in oil will be used . Flat white covers easier and better then a gloss white .
Thanks Johnannes . It was very frustrating having the paint crack and only have this problem with TMM acrylics . i would have used Tamiya paints , but I only have clear blue .
There was damage done to the tail plane control surface . Plastic became brittle and broke into three parts . I would have replace this but keep it any way .
So here is a pic of the blue .....................
