Bingo!
Although I thought about it's later form as "Norman Thompson Flight Company" the "White and Thompson" is the previous name of the same company during the partnership of these two gentelmen.
My congratulations Warren, over to you for the next question.

Thank you Michal.
OK.. This one MAY be very easy, or it may be very difficult...
What were the gate guardians at RAAF Base Richmond in the early 1980's?

No, I am sorry but that is incorrect.. although there was an Avon Sabre in one of the hangers in Top Hat markings that used to fly at least once a month... Those were the days.

Following the official website:
"The Royal Australian Air Force's RAAF Base Richmond is 50kms north-west of Sydney. Best known as home to our Hercules medium transport aircraft"
... so my type is C-130

That'd be one big gate guardian Michal. Definitely not enough room for one of those at the gate..

I've never been at Richmond so I have no idea how big is the gate
Well, so my next shot is CAC P-51D. I found a picture from early 1950 with the P-51's at Richmond so let's say they were used as the gate guardians for the next 30 years

So it might be either a fighter or a CAC-built plane. Hmmm....a P-40?

I have no idea what's the right direction now: fighter, CAC, single engined...there are too many types of planes to choose from for me

They are all incorrect Michal.. It is not a large aircraft due to space restrictions. It is not a fighter etc etc...

There's also a picture of the engine nacelles (or engines) from the C-130 and DC-3 on sides of the entrance to one of the buildings...

Here's the story:
http://philbuckleytravels.blogspot.com/2011/05/visit-to-raaf-richmond-air-base-for.htmlIt could be a temporary "decoration" for the ball and it's not at the base gate.
