As next year is the 70th anniversary of the Battles of France and Britain I propose a campaign the remember these events.
Rules suggested
Any aircraft used on active duty in the Air Force of any European nation between 10th May and 15th September 1940
Scale 1:144 to 1:24
Start 10th May 2010, Finish 15th September 2010 (any late comers must work at night only)
Enjoy the build and learn something new.
One possible variation could be to allow any aircraft used on active duty in any European Air Force in the first year of the war (includes Polish and Winter War types). Any takers?

I've just been reading some great books about the Battle of Britain. I'd be interested in doing a "Hurc". Great idea

Count me in.

Well, I've got a Bf 110-C and a couple of Bf 109 Es that I've been looking for an excuse to build. I think it would be fun.
Cheers,
Fred

Count me in, I still have a Revell Spitfire Mk. II that would fit the bill.

Thats 9 counting me - one more and I'll have to learn how to make it formal. My thought was an Italieri Fiat Cr42 or SM79, alternatively see if anyone does a MC200 Saetta. otherwise I was looking at a Dewoitine D520.

I may be wrong but I don't think the Typhoon entered production until October 1940 and the early ones had car door canopies. Reluctantly I'd say it doesn't fit. Pity cos I like them as well although I believe flying them could be a daunting prospect

Before I submit this a few things,
Does anybody have any problems with the rules as proposed originally
Time scale OK?
Can someone volunteer as deputy
Anybody got any ideas for ribbons?

I am fine with the campaign and I am ready to be second in command.

However, I would also agree with Fred and move it forward to fall 2009. Otherwise there is soooo long to wait

I am aware that it is a long time away but the dates were chosen as the 70th anniversaries of Fall Gelb (the invasion of France and the Low Countries) and Adler Tag ( usually recognised as the last day of the Battle of Britain). However a First Shots campaign could start on Sept 1st (the anniversary of the invasion of Poland (Fall Weiss) and finish after six months and allow all aircraft in service in Europe during the first year of the war. This allows the Winter War as well.
Jesper thanks for the offer, you get my vote.

B-O-B. I'm in.
Possibly the new Eduard 109, but I would also love to do that 1/32 Hasegawa Spit II that has been patiently waiting in my closet.

Definitly in, BoB my favourite era of WWII. Damn shame I have just finished my Defiant or that would have made a decent entry. However I have Revells 1/32 Ju88 or if I could find a 1/48 He111...

OK, Campaign 1, First Shots
Start Date 1st September 2009
End 12th March 2010
Any aircraft in service in any combatent Air Force between 1st September 1939 to 12th March 1940.
Commemorates the period of "phoney war" between the above dates and will include some really oddball early war types.
Would include GB, Germany, Poland, Finland, Russia, France, Japan?, China?
Could include Hawker Furies, Curtiss Hawks, PZLs, Polikarpov I15,16 and 153, Me109D
Need ten people to sign for that
Campaign 2
Start and finsh as originally proposed
Battle of Britain as originally proposed
Already have ten volunteers for this
This could include most of the above but will add Italy, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and give scope to add more developed aircraft like the Westland Whirlwind, Spit II,
Those who are happy about the First Shots campaign please indicate, and I will submit both

Andrew,
I'm in for First Shots with Bf 109E-1. And of course BoB too. I have a lot of time to decide on that one.
