I know there's about 1 million campaigns going at present, but I thought I'd throw another one up in the air for consideration. I went back through the campaigns list to about 2006 and couldn't find anything obvious regarding torpedo bombers. Has there been one lately? Is there any interest? I would be thinking at least 12 months until it started, any scale, any era, any nationality. Aircraft or Helicopters. Purpose-built or adapted for the role. The only strict rule would be that the torpedo would have to be visible, so aircraft with torpedo bays would have to be displayed with doors open.
So, thoughts, suggestions, or just tell me to shut up and go away and build something !!
Cheers, D

Count me in - I have the Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish here that I want to do marked for the Taranto raid. I am also chasing the Tamiya 1/48 Betty so that it can go with my model of HMS Prince of Wales.
12 months time sounds pretty good to me as I am in the BBB campaign starting next month as well as a figure painting campaign.

Hmmm, I've been planning to propose an Anti-Sub campaign, but this would probably take the edge out of that one. Not to worry, though! I have plenty of ideas!
Now, what to build?
I have this one (Heinkel He 115),
And then there is this one (Boeing Vertol 107),
Time is always an issue, so if it starts "already" 2010, I might not make it!
Cheers!! / PolarBear!
Ps - Damian: Don't loose focus on the Skis only-proposal. I really want to see that campaign going!

Hi Bjorn, thanks for your interest. I'm doing the old He115 Matchbox 1/72 kit for the current Seaplanes Campaign !
Maybe we could broaden the interest and make it a combined Torpedo/Minelayer/Anti-Sub Campaign.
Fear not, the Skis Only Campaign will be front and centre, I think it will be great fun !!
Cheers, D

How about calling the campaign just "Anti-shipping" and include everything that flies and is meant to fight against ships?
Just my two cents

Hey Tuomas, I had thought of that, but in my political correctness I didn't want to offend any strays from the Model Shipwrights community that may happen to stray across for a browse !!
But you are right, in essence it is an Anti-Shipping theme we are looking at. There, I've said it.

Anti shipping could be a good one. There might be some missile carrying birds out there that could be included.
Anyway, I am up for it. No matter if it is only torpedo bombers or anti shipping.
Great initiative

Love the Idea! I'm with Vance though. All the campaigns for next year pretty much start in the first half. If it were started somewhere near August or so I'd definately be in. I would have to build the Tamiya 1/48 Aichi M6A1 Seiran but don't know if it comes with a torpdeo or bombs.

Great idea - either torpedo only, or any anti-shipping. I would be in, provided it starts in the latter half of the year.
Been thinking about a torpedo-armed He111 anyway....

G'day all, just a subtle bump to keep this idea cooking.
ANTI-SHIPPING, who's in ?
I was thinking November start and 8 month duration.
Torpedos, Minelayers, Carrier-based Dive-Bombers, I would even like to see some dedicated shipping strike heavy fighter/bombers like the Beaus and Mitchells with the appropriate markings.
We have 11 interested so far, so I'm up for submitting it soon. Please post comments, feedback, suggestions so I can clarify the rules and regs.
Cheers, D

Hello Damian,
How about the old Avenger torpedo plane. They were used to sink the IJN Yamato and some of the IJN Carriers in the Philippine campaign during Bulls Run.
If I can find one at a low cost I am in,
If not maybe some of the Argentine's Planes used in the Falklands campaign. I just do not remember what was used.
You got my vote either way.
Remember that the ships can blow a plane out of the air that they did not even know it was there.
How about the Stuka that Hans Ulrich Rudel used to sink the Soviet battleship during WW2?
Cheers,
Bruce

G'day Bruce, thanks for your input.
In my opinion the Avenger would be a definite yes, but I think any aircraft with internal torpedo bays would need to be built with doors open. We want to SEE those bad boys !!
As for the Stuka, I'm not so sure. I have no issue with the dedicated anti-shipping DB's like the Dauntless or the Val, but I think the Stuka was only used occasionally at opportune moments. Then again I am often wrong and happy to be corrected.
Either way, thanks for your post.
Cheers, D

Hi all!
I´m in!
Could be fun Swordfish 1/48 or 1/32, Avenger 1/48 or 1/32, or even a helicopter, HKP4 (the Swedish Boeing Vertol).
There´s plenty to choose from in my stash!
Cheers!

I like it! Didn't Revell put out some Fw-190's with guided bombs for anti-shipping? That would be cool. And, I've got Dauntlesses and Avenger's galore in my stash...Great idea - I'd be in.
Cheers,
Mike

G'day all, the temporary Anti-Shipping Campaign page is up, we need enlistees to get airborne !!
Just got to the thread "Campaign Proposals looking for Enlistees" from CRS, and follow the link.
I will keep this thread alive until we get close to the start date and then create an official campaign thread with a Roll Call as the first post, like I did for the Boom Boom Campaign, I think this helps to inform everybody of who is involved and the range of builds going on.
As always, I welcome any feedback, comments or suggestions, and anybody willing to Co-Pilot with me in case of emergencies please let me know.
Cheers all, and thanks for your support.
