Really neat. The metal mimics metal perfectly. The 'imperfections' along the edge look like the real thing after the mechanics have been in and out a few times.

I have to agree with the metal cowling, you just have to look at period pics to see how the panels bowed betwen fastening points and each other.
She is lookng better with each set of shots you post..

Nothing wrong with that panel at all , you did a super job on shaping it and the rivet detail is out-standing .

– Thank You Everyone for your encouraging and kind words, they spur me to try even harder.
You're right the metal panel looks a bit worn and beat up – just the way I like it I never do any "factory fresh" builds. Worn and dented is more to my taste.
Did some more work last night – decided to add the bungeecords on the landing gear – which is much easier done, before you put the wheels on... Doh!
Also did some light oilwash on the engine panel. Apparenly white spirit can disolve even dried cyano glue... The whole thing sprung open again... Double Doh!
Oh well – fixed these problems, and then some, getting close to rigging now.
Best Regards
Mikael

Well ladies and gentlemen – last night I finally put the prop in place, and my quest for an Austrian Albatros in 1:32 was finished – The nose job is finally done
Finishing was pretty uneventful – I rigged using turnbuckles for the first time, (bought from Bobs Buckles) – wich proved to be a very pleasant experience. Much easier than how I usually do it.
Top wing was mounted by turning the whole thing upside down, upperwing taped flat to my desk. I have done it this way on some kits now – and it usually work quite well for me.
Anyway, enough talk – I guess you want to see some pics
Well thats it I guess – this has been a challenging build – in a good way and I feel pleased when I glance over to the shelf where it now stands, in the center of my other Albatroses.
Big Thank You everyone who gave me tips and feedback along the way, this was greatly apreciated. Also Thank You to all of you who watched.
I’ll be back with another build – probably a Wing Nut model (hoping for the Fokker DVII soon) First I’ll do a couple of 120 mm figures for a change of pace.
Before this though – Im making some Pop Corn and opening a Czech Lager!
Thank You for watching – any and all comments are most welcome

Hi Mikael!
Very well done indeed!
I think that the wood grain and the 'arrow' are real eye catcher...
I'll follow you on your 120 mm painting experience: I know I'll learn something!!
ciao

Thank You Edo – I'll see if I can post a link here somewhere to my figure builds – they are a bit off topic for this forum
Best Regards Mikael
P.S. Hoping your Pfalz is on the way to recovery.

Hi Mikael:
Great job on this nose job conversion/amalgamation. You did an excellent job, and your build is easy to follow for those of us willing to take that step and do the same. I am keeping my eye on a BA OEF Albatros for such purposes.
Looking forward to more.
Take care
Mark

Beautiful work! Your artistic work rivals the best! You have made me interested in the Eduard 1/48th offering! It won't be as impressive as your conversion but it does look good. Again, well done!

This is the best looking Oeffag D.III I've ever seen. Congratulations. I hope you don't mind if I copy it in 1/48 scale.
Cheers,
