Great idea. I am in, but I think we should also include the Corsair II as i really want to build one of the Vietnam birds.

No one else interested?

What is the official number number required to get this to the next stage?

Hi all!

I believe It´s 10 people required!

I shouldn´t do this, but I´m in!

I got lot´s of Corsairs in the stash!

Start summer/fall next year?
Min 6months?

Don´t know exactly what to build yet, but given enough time (6months), I´ll do a Trumpeter 1/32 F4U-1D or F4U-4 in 1/32, but I have several Tamiya´s in 1/48th scale too!

Cheers!

Hi folks,

I'm in for a Corsair campaign, if it's not too late. I'd prefer a 2011 start date if at all possible!

Howdy Y'all,

I was wondering if the Corsair Campaign died or if there is still interest? I have a bunch of Corsairs to build. Late 2011 would work for me.

Thanks,
Don 'Lakota'

Good question. I'm starting to get all excited about pulling out the Hase A-7A's I've got stashed somewhere for this one.

Late 2011 would be great. Do they have to be in service variants? I have an Accurate Miniatures kit of a version that was created too late to be used in the war, so was used for racing instead. I'm not opposed to buying another Corsair or a Corsair II for this campaign.

I was going to suggest something a campaign for ww2 carrier planes in general but as I have 3 Corsairs in my stash I could join this too. I have the Tamiya Birdcage Corsair, plus radar pod and decals for a Corsair nightfighter and standard late war Tamiya Corsair and also the Academy Corsair for conversion into a FAA Corsair. All in 1/72 but at this point I can't say which I would do but I will certainly join in.

thanks

As I have to build a Corsair again, this campaign suits me quite well. Last weekend at the expo in Basel I found a great Corsair decal sheet from Sky Models, so I probably go again (well, as always) for a Dual Combo with a Kiwi Corsair and a Royal Navy Birdcage . Both in quarter scale, using Tamiya kits. I would start in the 2nd half of 2011, as my timetable is full of campaigns in the first half ....
Damian, good to hear that you want to build a night fighter. 3 years ago I've built the F4U-2 from Tamiya. If you need a motivation picture, just let me know ....

Happy modelling

Nice idea Rowan! Ok, how'about it being called - Corsair's the Sky Pirates Campaign? Sounds a bit cheesy....its what I can think of at the moment! Any other ideas for a name?
[/quote]

How about "Whistling Death Campaign!" The name "WD" was given to the F4U by the Japanese.

Sorry Guys,

I have been busy at home and work and totally forgot about this build suggestion.

Good to see a few people keen for Corsair build...

Brian, Your idea for a name is great... but I think there are a few that want to build the bi-plane or the jet verison.. So I don't think that name would suit... But we could run with that idea at the moment....

I haven't submitted anything yet... I will give another 10-14 days before I do, so we can confirm a build name and details if its going to be open to everything

I think:

Any "Corsair" should qualify, we should call it "Sky Pirates" (I kinda like cheesey), and it should start in the second half of '11.

There, I took a stand! Whew, now I'm gonna go lie down

Okay, "Whistling Death" is out but In keeping with the whole Corsair and Pirates theme how about "Swashbucklers Campaign"? It might be cheesy as well but at least were on a roll.

All the best,
