Time for ROLL CALL. I will keep this list updated so that we can all keep tabs on who is building what and how the progress is going.

For my build I'm going to stretch my extremely limited scratchbuilding skills and turn this . . .

into something like this . . . .

but mine will be a What-If Lend Lease version with a white-wash and Soviet makings.

Hmmm.. Even though we Australians hardly ever even see snow, and very very rarely fit snow skis to our aircraft I have the choice of the following to build:

1/32 Hobby Boss Il-2 with skis
1/32 Revell Tiger Moth...

Off the top of my head I can't think of any other kits I have with the ski option..

I am feeling very unadventurous after a few big builds lately so it will be OOB safe..

Well friends, growing up in Wisconsin, and living in Illinois, I see way too much snow! My big "to-do" on the list last weekend was to buy a new snowblower, as my previous machine called it quits. But, at least snow gives one an excuse to stay put at the modeling bench. Only hot coffee or tea for me when I'm there...I make enough mistakes when I'm clear-headed....

Here's a shot of what I'll be working on. It's 1/72, but sure looks smaller! I'm looking forward to the weekend, to get a start on this one.

Cheers,
Mike

ok i couldn't help it!!!
i'm waiting for paint to turn up for my corsair so i started on the lysander...

and this is the colour scheme i will do.

from what i can see this will be built like a WW1 aircraft , finished parts that all come together at the end.

And we're off and running !

Looking good so far Paul, those tube frames have always scared me, along with rigging. How many parts made up that frame ? I'm looking forward to this coming together for you, the Lysander is an aircraft I haven't seen in a while.

I've started on the basics of my Skibolt, nothing worth showing yet, the AMT kit is pretty ordinary on the fit and detail front, and I'm really focussed on getting the ski's and paint right on this one, not the interior.

@ mj I had to get up REALLY CLOSE to the screen to see that little gem, but it looks like a nice kit.

hi damian,

the frame itself is only 6 parts plus the decks and seats etc, the PE is really fiddly and there's lots of it!
i've already glued the wings and cut the rear access windows as well.......dont know whats going on , ive never built this fast before.....mind you it is quite cold at night now so i'll just stay in and do this

Hello there!
I would like to enlist, since I need an excuse to finaly start work on my SB-2 from ICM. It was used in the 1940 Winter war and skis are part of the kit. The kit itself has very mixed reviews. Some people say its the best ICM kit so far, others hate it. I do expect a rough ride and hopefully it will be done in time.

Hello Damian!

I hope I will start as soon as I can. It started to show heavy this night so Im in the mood for this. But I guess the speed on this one depends on how fast I can get masks for the clear parts.

Started my kit tonight. I picked this up on Ebay a few months back specifically for this campaign.

Cockpit is painted and assembled. I'll throw on a quick wash before she's buttoned up into the fuselage.

It's a pitty the camera wouldn't pick out the instrument cluster better. Instead of using the kits decal, I painted it flat black and highlighted the gauges with silver, white, and drybrushed it and added a drop of Future on each gauge.

Hey 'Cuda, great to see you here mate, and what an awesome start to your Skistuka ! That interior looks really good !

My Skibolt is on the back burner for the moment while I grapple with a pig of a kit for the P-51 Campaign, but I'm keeping an eye on things here and in my Anti-Shipping Campaign.

Carry on, D

D, I have a P-51 myself that needs to be finished by the deadline. I'm also signed up for 13 campaigns right now but I wanted to get this one underway.

Well, she's wearing skis now so progress isn't all that slow.

The skis are resin pieces that were included in the kit. They are really nice but are going to require LOTS of prep work before the paint goes on.

Wow, what a Blitz Stuka. If You can keep this speed, You will be finished before the years end. And it looks very well too.

I've painted the underside and both colors on the top. Just gotta paint the skis and get ready for the decals. Oh, and I still have to mask and paint the canopy....

I forgot to paint the yellow fuselage band so I'll have to go back and apply that as well.

Should have her finished in a few days.

Hey 'Cuda, you're back with a vengeance mate !!

That SkiStuka is looking really good, and in record time as well. You're embarrassing me in my own Campaign, thanks very much for that. My Jug is sitting quietly in it's box under the workbench listening to me swear at that F-82 !

Looking forward to the next update.

Thanks D, and to make you even more sick here are my finished photos of the Stuka with skis.
And yes, there is an antenna but it's almost invisible in the photos (which are of poor quality, naturally.)

There you have it. One Stuka wearing skis with only a few minor mistakes.
That's one campaign down, 387 to go!

Hermon your SkiStuka looks great ! What did you use for the panel lines, they look great (as yours always do!) ?

Now how about some pics of the snow outside to enhance the atmosphere of the Campaign for me? All I have here is nice warm sunshine

And don't forget to drop a pic in the Campaign Gallery HERE for us.

D, the panel lines are just Promodeler wash, as usual. I also preshaded everything before painting. We have nearly 15 inches of snow now, so I'll get the Stuka out on the front porch tomorrow and snap a few pic's.

Sweet builds guys! I'm thinking of just going with the Yak-3 for now as I may be using the IL-2 for the CAS campaign.

Hi Jesper Ask and ye shall recieve. Here are some photos taken in early 1940 of a Stuka with skis somewhere in Eastern Europe. Or, were they taken on my front porch an hour ago?

There ya go. I wish my photo skills were better but it is what it is. Also the antenna has sagged a bit...........dunno why, but I probably should have fixed it before the picture taking session.
