Just a query, has everyone recieved their decals? There seems to be a few folk who have not notified me whether they have recieved them. Or maybe you have'nt. How about a sound off.
All the best.

I haven't purchased mine just yet, I'm hoping one of the vendors at the IPMS show in a couple of weeks will have a set for me and if not I'll snag some online...

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but since february has only 28 days, the campaign should start 5 days (next tuesday).

Okay guys, the time is ticking down and we all get to start our builds on Tuesday. I've been gearing up, surfing for build logs and such, and I'm about to drive myself crazy!!!

Here's my problem. Panel lines... The revell A-10 has raised panel lines and a boat load of other raised detail. This will only be my fourth kit since getting back into the hobby last year and I've never rescribed anything. I've checked into how its done and I have the tools and supplies needed.

Question is, do I do it? What are your opinions? Am I biting off more than I can chew? The raised detail is pretty fine, and doesn't look horrible to me, but I get the feeling that it's viewed negatively by most other modelers. Has anyone else done this kit and if so what was your approach? would it be okay to mix it, rescribing only panel lines and leaving other raised details intact? Am I just being an eejit about all this?

Hi, Ray.

I don't really mind about raised panel lines.
The real-life A-10 is a very special aircraft with regard to this issue. The rivets on the nose are flush rivets (the skin is smooth there), the rivets on the tail are raised. For the speeds at which the A-10 flies, it doesn't matter if the rivets at the rear are raised.
That Revell (ex-Monogram) kit is considered by many the best A-10 kit on the market.

Cheers, Stefan.

Thanks for the reply Stefan! I have also heard that it's considered to be about the best kit shape wise. There is a ton of detail on the kit too. I really dont think I should sand the whole thing smooth and engrave everything... I guess this will be another one of those learning experiences I get with every new kit! I'm really leaning toward mixing it up and leaving some raised detail intact and engraving the panel lines
