Hi all.
As some of you may have noticed, I have been reviewing a quantity of Afterburner Decals recently. We at Aeroscale and Scott at Afterburner Decals thought it would be a great idea to have a Campaign that used the decals in the builds. Rather than have them sitting in a drawer and perhaps being used in a build, we thought why not let you, our readers out there, use them. The sets I have are all in 1/48 and they include:

48-058 F-16C ANG. tim hatton [litespeed]
48-059 F/A-18F VFA-31 Felix Rules.
48-060 F-16C Bentwater Aggressors. Warren Inman [warreni]
48-061 E/A-18G Super Bug shockers. Joe Szczygiel [mother]
48-062 F-5E Red Flag Tigers. Stefan [stefanBuysse]
48-063 F-15C Shogun Eagles. Hermon [Voncuda]
48-064 F-2A/B Viper Zero 1.
48-065 F-2A/B Viper Zero 2.
48-067 F-16C Beware the Thunderbolts.Damian Rigby [aussiereg]
48-068 F4E/G 3rd TFW. Eric Salazar
48-069 F-14A's VF-84, Jolly Rogers. Justin McCracken, [keeperofsouls 2099]
48-070 F-111E 20th TFW Upper Heyford. Mark [markske]

So if you fancy taking part in this campaign and would like to use the above decals [one set per person only] in your build for this campaign please PM me. The campaign will start on March 1st, 2011 and will last six months. This coincides with Justin McCracken's campaigns 'Fighting Falcons' and 'the Cats out of the Bag'. Justin has kindly allowed me to run the Afterburner campaign alongside his. As this is an unusual occurrence [hopefully not the last], we will bend the Campaign rules a bit and we are going to allow anyone to submit a build for the Afterburner Campaign and either the F-14/F-16 Campaigns. So if you build a F-16 ANG using Afterburners Decals you will be able to submit it for both the Afterburner and the Fighting Falcon Campaigns. If you are not fortunate to acquire one of the above sets, there is nothing stopping you using Afterburner Decals that you have acquired yourself. As an incentive Scott from Afterburner Decals is going to judge which model he likes the most and offer a prize from his decal range.
Please note although these are going out free to good homes, we at Aeroscale and Scott at Afterburner Decals expect you to use them in the Campaigns. Decals wont be sent out until the new year.

Rules of engagement.
Campaign starts 1st March 2011 and finishes 1st September 1011.
You must submit an applicable build using the above decals from Afterburner Decals or Afterburner Decals from your own stash.
If you choose to build a F-16 or F-14 you will be allowed to enter the same model for Justin McCrackens two campaigns ''the Fighting Falcon'' and the Cat is out of the Bag''.
Scott from Afterburner Decals will judge which model he likes best.
Scott from Afterburner Decals will reward the winner with a prize from his range of decals.
Enjoy your build and good luck.

Hi all
Thanks for the response so far. Here is an updated list of those wanting to join this campaign:

48-061 E/A-18G Super Bug shockers. Joe Szczygiel [mother]
48-062 F-5E Red Flag Tigers. Stefan [stefanBuysse]
48-069 F-14A's VF-84, Jolly Rogers. Justin McCracken, [keeperofsouls 2099]
48-070 F-111E 20th TFW Upper Heyford. Mark [markske]
With their own decals are:
Steffen Arndt – Jamin Jihad.
Jens H. Brendl – F-2B.
Harm Manders [dutchbird] – F-2A.

So that's 7 all together.

I will wait until tomorrow to choose which sheet I will use for the campaign, to give anyone thinking about joining a chance of selecting something that is left.
All the best.

Great! I've been looking for a reason............and some time, to build my F-15 kit. I'll get busy looking for a resin cockpit set and maybe some PE and engine exhaust nozzles.

Excellent idea for a campaign Tim.

Well if we can get Afterburner to do some P-61 or P-47 decals I'd be in, but modern jets just aren't my thing Justin. In fact I think the most modern thing in the stash is a '57 Chev

Add to that the 7 million Campaigns that I'm already in for 2011 and I must gracefully decline this one, and your 2 as well. Sorry mate.

Hi all.
Well I thought it's my turn to have a choice of decals, we can't have the campaign leader sitting on the touchline twiddling his thumps can we! I thought I would go for sheet 48-058 featuring F-16C of the ANG. I am really taken with the orange tailed Indiana Viper.
All the best.

Ok Tim (and yes, you too Justin), I have been having a browse of some reviews and build logs and galleries and maybe it's time I got WAY out of my comfort zone and built something that's younger than me.

If they are still available I will take the 48-067 "Beware the Thunderbolts" set, 'coz I was born in '67 and I love Thunderbolts, and have a go at these 2 campaigns.

I'm gunna need a lot of help, but I'll have a good go at it.

Cheers, D
