Anybody else out there notice Stephen seems to be in a really good mood lately? Rhyming and joking on his posts. Pear Schnapps maybe?

Greetings all: Carl I think you may be right about Stephen.

Now having the NINAK "NACK" here are some pictures. I have completed the rigging, I used EZ Line Fine and Heavy, Heavy to simulate the RAF Flying wires. I redid the control lines as the invisible thread was really sagging and all the heat applied in the world didn't stop it. I still have to put the bombs on, I am not crazy about building and painting bombs, but will put on a few I guess, it is a bomber after all.

This is an overall view of it.

Here you can see some of the attachment points. I used the ones I made for the rigging, and I used Bob's Buckles for the controls, as I used Fine EZ line for those, and the X type rigging between the struts.

Here you can see the EZ line where I redid the control lines. I tried heat but they would just sag in a matter of minutes. Can't have that on a Marine Corps Aircraft!
[
This gives an idea of the size of this airplane.

And there it is with its bretheren.

When I get the bombs on I will send some pics of it, but for me it is done. A few flaws here and there, but I am happy with it overall.
I would put the pilot's machine gun on after all the rigging otherwise it will be in the way, and I would also recommend putting the upper wing center section on rig the cabane struts, and then put the lower wings on, and finally the upper wings to the center section. It went real smooth for me.
Thanks for looking, now on the ..................................hmmmmmmmm what will it be?
Best

Hi Mark,

A very attractive lineup of builds you've got there

Congratulations on finishing the NINAK too – that is a very great looking model you've got, I'm really tempted...

Best Regards

Thanks Mark, Mikael and Terri:

The NINAK is a big model, can you imagine the size of the Gotha? The collection is a start, each one is a learning experience, and I gotta agree with Stephen, what's not to be happy about? A great forum with the best modelers, and best of all no rancor or sniping. It is great!

I am looking forward to following your NINAK build Mark, and Mikeal, what's the hold up on the HB 29? Looking forward to your DH2 as well, I am picking up one this weekend.

Best

Hi Mikael:

It sucks when work interferes with model time. I am looking forward to your next install on the DH-2. My wife got me the W29 for Christmas as well as the NINAK, and I am thinking I will tackle that one next. It is so unique, a monoplane floatplane, no rigging, yes, I think it will be next.

Very nice lineup of well built aircraft. The size of the Ninak is very apparent. As for your choice of the HB W29 is a good one. The DH2 can be built well, But I was just disapointed with the quality of the whole thing. What other choices do you have for next builds?

I am happy to. I agree with Stephen. This is a great place with great people. Why not be happy?

She is really a beauty! Your work on the rigging has convinced me to graduate to turnbuckles.

And I thought the Junkers was big...

I don't have to imagine, i know. It has to be carried sideways through doorways to avoid the risk of taking the wings off.

Great work on the DH9a Mark. I'm willing to bet that you've built one of the more difficult (or at least more complicated anyway) of the WNW's kits so far with that one. The rigging in particular is always harder on British subjects. I wonder why the British needed twice as much wire to make an aircraft, compared to everyone else?

Thanks Andrew: I think the SE5 and the Bristol are the hard ones of the WNW line up. The DH2, well; that's in a league all by itself.

The rigging on the DH9a. wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be.

Okaky Folks, here we go with DC elfine, i finally got the bombs on. The decal stripes on the small bombs were sort of a pain to put on, but I got 'em on, and mounted.
Here we see them prior to mounting

Here they are on the wings. The 112 pounder was easy to decal and looks nice.

And here are some shots of the aeroplane with the bombs and racks fixed to their respective places.

and the port side view.

For references I was frugal and trusted the WNW instructions and the photo

So there you have it folks! Almost two months to the day.

What's next you ask? Well, let me think on that one okay, I am going to do the WNW Albatros DV using the PHEON decal for Wilhelm Lehman ca. March - May 1918. I like the Edelweiss and the Jasta 5 Markings, plust there is no wood grain or lozenge. A colorful a/c to model and a significant pilot. It is the one depicted at the bottom of the page, #4.
