Unfortunately not as the general rule of thumb is a kit can only be used for one campaign. other wise everyone would build one kit that could fit the bill for several campaigns and that would be fair on other to take the time to build something for each campaign. There has of course been exceptions in the past but that was for a special campaign

Now there is a question about the campaign: Would, for example, an F-5E in agressor or top gun markings be admissable to this campaign? Are aircraft used for dissimilar tactics training considered to be in a support roll, or only the ones that were already designed specifically as trainers (such as the TA-4) before becoming agressors valid entries?

@ vanize:

That certainly is something to think about, let me get back to you tomorrow. I'm pretty tired at the moment and I can't think straight.

@ barley5000:

Another Blackhawk is most welcome as long as it is for this campaign only. Looking forward to seeing it in March.

I apologize for the late replay, Ireland is having characteristically wet weather and I've, characteristically, caught a small cold.

I've been thinking about dissimilar tactics training and if I was to allow in an F-5E, as per the example, then I would also be letting in F-14's, F-16's, F/A-18's and a host of other combat aircraft. I feel this would go against the spirit of the campaign as I imagine it.

When I envisioned the campaign I wanted to do something different than the combat aircraft many of us model from day to day. Now don't get me wrong, I've nothing against combat aircraft. I have enough aftermarket ordinance to fuel a small war but I wanted to try something different, especially as this is my first campaign.

My idea was to offer everyone the chance to pull something special or different from their stash, that cargo plane hiding down the bottom, the oddball trainer that's never been built or the SAR helicopter that hasn't been a fit in any other campaign.

So most aircraft used in the AggressorAdversary role wouldn't be a fit here. That said, the TA-4 is a two-seat training aircraft and one I've never seen in kit form before. A two-set Skyhawk sounds like a very interesting subject also. I've no idea what function they performed in the Aggressor role but if you, Vanize, wanted to model a TA-4 in Aggressor camouflage I would welcome it based on the fact the TA-4 is a trainer.

I realize that my answer may seem a bit contradictory, as such I welcome any discussion and debate on the matter of dissimilar tactics training. I'm also happy to accept inquiries about any aircraft you think, but might not be sure, are a fit for the campaign.

I don't see it as contradictory - rather it was just a gray area that needed some light shed on it. your answer makes perfect sense to me.

besides, there have been aggressor campaigns in the past (and perhaps we are due for another next year or so?)

and the more i think about it, the more the L-39 in my stash needs building anyway

classic airframes makes a TA-4J:

the reason i asked about agressors is that I aquired these markings that I just won't be able to resist using:

Great idea for a campaign.

I have the choice of Revell's A-6E with a conversion for a KA-6D from Cobra company and I have Kinetics Hawkeye.

I will keep an eye on the campaign and when building permits I will join in.

An AggressorAdversary campaign would be pretty nice. Perhaps if this one goes well I'll think about putting that forth as a proposal.

Well, I look forward to seeing your TA-4 if you decide to do one, it'll be one I follow with great interest.

I want to join this campaign. I'm thinking of 1960s era humble slow transports, like a C-123, C-124, C-54,etc, or perhaps an Albatross in Air Sea Rescue roll.
All in 1/144 scale, that's all Im interested in these days.

Alright folks, we have a possible ribbon for the campaign courtesy of JClapp.

It's the U.S Airforce Air Mobility Command (previously Military Air Transport Service) emblem. What does everyone think?

Looks good to me but I think someone is showing their age as its now known as the Air Mobility Command not the Military Air Transport Service

I'm just working on the information I was given, I wasn't born until the 80's.

Perfectly true. I was a kid in the 1960's, my dad worked for DoD, and we always lived near airbases. For me the air force will always be silver jets and piston engine powered behemoths.

Hi there

I'm definitely in! Seeing as three of my most recent purchases have been trainers, and I have plenty more in the Stash, I'm sure I'll have something suitable for the campaign.

All the best

@Merlin: Welcome aboard.

@Everyone: I have setup the ribbon so we're pretty much good to go come March. Plenty of time for everyone to find a kit that suits them.

I'm definitely in, not sure what I'll do, might go for LEM's RCAF C-119 resin/decal set for the Italieri kit, or a He-111Z (which was used as a towplane and for cargo) or just might track down a Gooney Bird (Ideally the Revell 1/72 Ilmavoimat boxing).

I was at an aviation fair today manning the IPMS Ireland table and I seen several kids getting some pretty big kits, all military transport planes. The hobby is doing pretty well I think.

I was chatting with Vertigo today about this one - I think it's a great idea and I'm in too!

Just to check, would something like a HH-60 Rescue Hawk be eligible? While it's a search and rescue helo, it does carry weapons and stuff so maybe not then...? If not, no problemo and plenty of time to pick something!

All the best,

Dermot

Personal defence weaponry, door gunners and such, are alright I think. I mean several large military transport planes have tail guns for personal defence after all.

I imagine the Rescue Hawk has SAR gear fitted?

Outside, it's got a winch.
Inside, probably a stretcher/litter/ and other rescue gear

Am not sure myself but I think they call it CSAR (C for combat).........mmm, doesn't sound like it fits the campaign - no worries and I can pick something else - plus it gives me an excuse to buy something

Cheers,

There is always a Jayhawk, although the USCG colour scheme might be difficult to apply with an airbrush.

If you're at the meeting on the 17th we'll all probably end up at a model shop after the pub, we'll find something there.

Hi agan

I think I got my most macabre potential entry for the campaign today - the trainer version of the Ohka kamikaze rocket-bomb:

I think it'll probably be down to this, an Airspeed Oxford or T-2C Buckeye for me...

All the best

So has anyone else given any thought to what they would like to build for the campaign?

This is what I have sitting in the stash. I spotted it at a model show in September and thought it would make for an interesting build.
