Id never heard of that one before! Dornier continues to build unique and interesting designs!
I've been thinking of building a C-124 like in the picture I posted earlier, possibly my all time favorite plane. Anigrand makes a 144th kit Ive been drooling over for months.

A C-124 looks like an interesting project, would it be a natural metal finish?
Posted: Monday, December 12, 2011 - 12:06 PM UTC
natural all over is how I remember them, but Ive seen pictures of them with white upper surfaces, which is also appealing.

I 'd love to build for the campaign, sounds like a cool idea! Quick question for ya, would the Reaper UAV qualify? It would be marked for the 174th out of Syracuse NY that traded their F-16 for the Reaper.
If that one didn't work, I could build the Italeri EA-6 Prowler!

Since the Reaper is combat capable I'd be inclined to guess it wouldn't, but that's okay because the world needs more Prowlers anyway.

I'd reckon the Reaper and the Prowler are much the same in terms of being combat aircraft.

I've been reading about both the MQ-9 Reaper and the EA-6 Prowler on Wikipedia and I've come to the following conclusions.
The MQ-9 Reaper is a serious piece of hardware and has evolved out of a mere surveillance role into a considerable strike package. It's capable of delivering JDAM's, LGB's and even a Sidewinder.
It can still perform a surveillance role of course but it appears to be primarily used in a strike role. The 174th of the New York ANG appear to use them in the strike role as well as they've traditionally performed close appear support missions.
If you found a squadron using the MQ-9 Reaper purely for surveillance and recon I could let it in but not if it is being used as a strike package. The same would go for other UAV's.
The EA-6 Prowler on the other hand is designed specifically for electronic warfare. It does have a combat ability in that they've been upgraded to carry the AGM-45 Shrike and the AGM-88 Harm for SEAD missions but for the most part Prowlers usually carry jamming pods and other ECM equipment.
So I'd allow in an EA-6 Prowler as long as it was fitted with the ECM equipment and not any AGM's.

Thanks for the clarification about the Reaper, thought it was more recon, but watching the news..it appears to have gravitated to strike.
The Prowler would work, its loaded w/ ECM gear, just like the newer Growler that replaced it.

A Prowler it is then and like Jessica said the world needs more Prowlers. It's a shame to see all the unique aircraft used by the USN and USMC being replaced by one aircraft split into different variants.
The A-6 Intruder and the S-3 Viking are two of my favorite.

I have an old S-3A Viking in the stash, partially built, but it needs a ton of work to get looking decent. When I got the kit I was surprised at how large the Viking actually is.
The Do 28D2 should be an interesting build. I'm hoping to find a nice camouflage and marking scheme for it.

Am really looking forward to this Campaign - some great ideas already!
I'm in with either this one or an EC-135 from the stash - will finish it as a UK Police Air Support bird.
Cheers,
Dermot

I was hoping that Santa would bring me an Academy KC-97G Flying Tanker in 1/72 scale for me to build here, but when your Christmas list has over 35 kits on it 1 can't expect to get them all
But I will be placing the order real soon so I have it for the start of this campaign
Merry Christmas everyone

Hi!
I have decided for the Revell 1:32 Piper Cub:
I have not decided for the version yet. I will make a post-war-Luftwaffe training Cub. Either one of the Fliegeranwärterregiment of the Luftwaffe or a plane of a Sportfliegergruppe of a Luftwaffe combat wing. But let´s wait, read the profile and see.
@Sal: I am looking forward to seeing the KC-97 emerging!
I think this campaign will be great fun !!
Servus,
Sebastian

I'm expecting the campaign to be both fun and very colourful. It should make for a very interesting feature when it ends.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have a nice night tonight as well.

Only a month to go now, how is everyone feeling kit wise?
I've had some thoughts on what to do with my Skyservant, primary among them is this attractive scheme for the Niger Air Force.
If I can source the roundels and tail flag I'll probably go ahead with this.

I am in a quandary in what to build need to look through the boxes. On top of my square head I am thinking of He 111z prototype, Bf 108 from the isle of man air races which was all blue or a Ju 290 in the Kreigsmarine convoy surveillance. I believe that they fall into the parameters. If not let me know.

I have changed my mind found a great plane a Si 204 used by Albert Speer for his tempted signing of a treaty. It is in civil markings. A rough kit though I think I can make it look some thing like a plane. I might also do a Bf 108 used by Messerschmitt himself or the Isle man air races. Too many interesting paint schemes.

You can lock me in with the Academy 1/72 TBF-1 in my stash, that I'll attempt to turn into a TBM-3R "Turkey" from the Korean War. I've really extended myself this year with campaigns, so I have to sort them by end date, so I won't jump next month yet. Rest assured, I've got this one in mind, and I'll be with you all in time!
Thanks!

The Ju 290 is a great fit and a very interesting looking aircraft.
The He 111 Z-1 would also be a great fit as, from what I've gathered, it's was designed to tow gliders. But the Z-2 and Z-3 wouldn't be eligible as it they were intended to be heavy bombers I believe.
I don't really know anything about the Isle of Man air races but just remember the aircraft has to be performing a support role for a military service.
The Albert Speer Si 204 is a bit of a grey area I suppose. You could argue that it was used in a support role by Speer but then I'm pretty sure he didn't hold a military rank. I'll need to look into that some more.

@windysean
The very first COD aircraft, I like very much. No need to start right away, I know it can be difficult juggling so many campaigns. I've tried limiting myself to four this year, including my own. Once the Summer arrives I may enter one or two more.

I'll join up on this one with something from the RAAF, maybe with a Comm Flt Catalina, or an ASR bird.

You'll be custom forming a canopy then, or is there an after market part for that?
I have just such a conversion (in 144th) on hold while I melt and mangle various bits of clear plastic...

With two active campaigns underway and this third one coming on, I'm glad were coming into a slower season in the field. I haven't quite decided yet, but its a toss-up between these two.
Either this:
With either RCAF AM decal:
Or, RCN AM decal:
The other choice is this:
With these AM decal:
Still somewhere around a month to decide.
