I've been mulling this over and would like propose a campaign dedicated to the role of the pursuit / fighter aircraft
Some of the rules would be
1) Any aircraft of any era as long as it was used in the Pursuit / fighter role.
2) for obscure or lesser know aircraft the entrant will have to prove the aircraft was used in this role
3)no starting before the campaign and the model should be done at the end of the campaign.
4) Build logs and lots of posting are encouraged.
5) Stand alone kit or Diorama's allowed.
5) Work in Progress Pics must be posted in the Official Campaign thread...
6) At least 2 Clear Pictures of the finished model must be posted in the Official Campaign Gallery to be awarded the Campaign Ribbon
7) all scales are welcome.
8) and last but not least have fun and enjoy yourself.
So would there be any interest in this campaign

For the ignorant among us, what is a "pursuit" fighter? What does it chase around?

I believe 'Pursuit Aircraft' was an early term the U.S used for fighter aircraft which is why a lot of U.S fighter aircraft begin with the letter 'P' such as the P-51 and the P-37.
I think the aim of the campaign is all fighter aircraft?

Yep, count me in on this one too!
My first reaction to the thought of pursuit planes was the awesome Forked-tail Devil, the P-38 Lightning, but as I'm trying to focus on planes in my own lifetime (some kind of "Quantum Leap" premise thing that I've got going), I might build an F-86 Sabre. That's another attractive aircraft. I still can't get geeked about an A/F-18 or F-16, although if the Hometown campaign idea fizzles out, I'd still like to do a Wisconsin ANG F-16 sometime.
Well, that's enough of a glimpse into my convoluted brain.

The original idea was to build an aircraft that started with the designation of P- or F- eg the P-47 or F-15 but as only the US used that designation I suggested to Sam to extend it to fighter aircraft so we can have plane from other forces but to include the 'pursuit' aircraft so we could get some of the P-47, P-51, P-38, P-61 etc included as well.
I would be in as I have a few kits in the stash that will suitable.

So we are basically building fighters? With my huge stash, I'm okay to fighters, US only fighters or fighters that only begin with a P designation

Hi all,
as i didn't work on a plane for a while (and never here), and May 2012 is good for me, i would be in with an Eduard Lavochkin La-7 (one of the "dual combo" set at 1/72) if it is allowed.
Cheers,
nico

Thats great 1 more person needed and I will submit the campaign
Im in a quandery I was thinking something P or F designation (American) but as its opened to all fighter Im a tiny bit torn Ive got an EE Lightning, a sqaudron of 109's in boxes etc. I can see even with all the options in the stash I might end up with a new kit for this

just a thought, would hawker tempest and typhoons be allowed? as they were initially designed for this role and flew a few intercept missions before becoming predominantly ground-attack planes..

I've just enlisted to my 2nd campaign in 2012. As I often build fighters (at the moment 2 Corsairs for the "Sky Pirates"), this campaign is fine for me and that time suits me well. Still not sure, what I'm going to build, have to ask my stash when the time comes. But it will surely be a double pack again .....
