Hello Everyone,
I joined this campain way back in the hopes of completing my SBD-5 that has been sitting on my bench for almost 2 years. Here is where she sits as of today, with the upper portion of paint done yesterday.
I am hoping to get back into building again after too long of a absence.

Hi Everyone,
I have made soom progress on my SBD, the 3rd colour is now on, and I have completed the landing gear, also the most important items are in place, the 250 and 1000 lb bombs. I am now working on the dive flaps in the open position, very slow going with those. A few more fiddly bits to compete and I can start the decals.
Kurt, I will be using the kit decals for this airframe, from USS Lexington supporting the marine landings on Tarawa in 1943.
Hoping I finish in time
Ted

Thanks for the kind words Ian,
I finally got the flaps done and the other major pieces on.
I put a coat of future on this morning, so I will start putting the decals on.
Ted

Well the 1/48th scale Revell Grumman EA-6A is wrapped up and posted in the gallery. I added lead foil intake and exhaust covers to the model and Eduard PE RBF tags were also added to the various vent and pitot tube covers. The decals by IMPACT were flawless and depict a USMC EA-6A Wild Weasel from VMCJ-2 in their "hi-viz" days. This was a very fun build and reminded me of why I love Monogram kits to this day. Thanks for the campaign and this was a good motivator to get this one completed and off the bench.
Best wishes, Ian

@Ian--yes, that is one beaut of a well-worn bird.
Ah, now I see where the Playboy Bunny goes. I was picturing it more forward on the vertical tail, and thus having issues with the white decal on black background.
Is this gonna be a MoM entrant?
Keith

Keith, Ted and Diego-----Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen! I miss the days of Hi-Viz USN/USMC schemes. Keith, the white decals went down fine over the black and didn't lose their brightness. Those IMPACT Decals are very nice and printed perfectly. I'm kinda new to Aeroscale so I hadn't thought about a MoM entry yet.
Ted, Dauntless is coming well! The SBD is a fantastic airplane. Looking forward to seeing your final rendering of it.

Richard-- too bad about the de-enlistment. I know how that goes. See you in the next one!
Ted and Ian-- The SBD and the EA-6A turned out great-- both should be contest entries! (and yes, the hi-viz schemes were the best. )
Cheers!

Doug, I second Keith's comment-- beautiful photos of a beautiful build. Your plane looks flawless no matter how closely you look. (Mine you have to close one eye and look really fast for best effect. ) Remember to post in the gallery!
Everyone, the gallery is here . So far campaign completers in the gallery are: 29Foxtrot, cinzano, Jclapp, Jessie_C, md72, MLD, and mykroft. If you don't see your name, and you think it should be there, speak up, and I'll double-check my list.
Plenty of time between now and the new year to pick an old hangar queen from the back of the stash and get her to the front of your display shelf! (Okay, I'm talking mostly to myself here. I'll get mine started eventually...)
-Sean H.
End of Campaign Update!

I'll give you a day to mull this over, then award those precious ribbons!

Sean,
I thought about it and decided to NOT submit my finished kit to the gallery. I started this campaign with a true Hangar Queen, the 1/32 F-16, but didn't get to finish it. The 1/144 Me-262 I found in my parts bin and rebuilt was not really a Hangar Queen, but more like a wreck found in an abandoned barn and then restored. And as small as it is, it was not much of a challenge.
I will certainly continue on the Viper and maybe enter it in HQ III!
Thanks for a fun and enjoyable campaign!
Keith
