Ok ! so now the question is,do I want or need to add another Ford T truck to what will be the scrapyard in the front half of the right hand backyard.

Nice. How about some faded logo like "Reid & Son second hand aircraft parts"?

Looks like a bit of a twisted front end,a little dirt under the wheel should fix that.Actually the car is resting on a bit of a slope in the landscaping.

Next up will be a scrap yard van loaded with auto/aircraft parts. The last "T" will be a new roadster parked near the L/H back stairs. Then that is it for the cars and trucks in this diorama.
The van will be a moving van of some sort bearing a logo on the side for "Reid's Auto/Aero Parts".Proper placement of the van will be critical to the composition .The roadster will be the only fairly new car of the bunch with all the bells and whistles attached and will be placed subtlety in the back ,the just "almost completed" junkyard truck is actually front and center in this composition.
I just couldn't resist putting in the roadster with the "mother-in-law" seat,it is so crazy and impracticable and very unique.

A change in plans for the van.I actually robbed some parts from this kit to make my 4 seat "T"car. The van will now become a trailer and the other part of the chassis a cart of some sort or other.

New,shiny cars are usually not my thing but even this car will not be "show room."
Guys have been modifying and personalizing their rides for a long time.I figure that these young guys, who are already really into their cars, would be no different even way back when.I have found that new cars are hard to model and not have them look like toys. Here is my latest attempt.

An important thing to look for is the quality of the chrome or brass parts. If they are poorly modeled with lots of flash or defects stay away as it is very hard to correct this problem and still maintain a nice finish.
I tone down my brass parts using matte medium varnish put on with a brush.Too brassy does not look natural.
My first attempt at personalizing this model was to make a cherry wood running board.

The matte black finished was obtained the old fashioned way by hand rubbing many coats of paint.First using just my finger and then a soft cloth and lots of time.It may look a little dull to all you shiny car fans but when in the diorama it looks OK and does not draw too much attention.

Approximate position of the roadster in the diorama.Note how a single coat of matte medium changes the look of the brass on the sample wheels. The wheels of course will not be staying this way as they were actually made of wood not brass.

Once I get all the trucks and cars finished,I will begin work on the scrap yard and what is left of grandma's backyard.Build a new fence and then add some junk.Should be fun!

John,
As always Outstanding work my friend. Love the work in general, but that Model T Depot Hack is some wonderful conversion work. I'm looking forward to following along and seeing all the parts coming together.
Highest regards,
Gregory Jouette
