Gotta show I'm making progress!
Here is the nose section with a little custom artwork (the pin up and HoneyBea) using Surething Decal Maker. Works pretty well but the writing came out transparent. Not sure how to fix this in the future. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
that's pretty neat looking! the dashed walkway lines came out pretty good too.
You have immediately struck on the one drawback of home decal printing - you can't print white figures on a clear background. Printers don't include white ink, the white is translated as "no ink".
they do make white film, if you are
really good with an exacto knife you can print the figures with the black outline on white film, and then cut them out.
The other approach is to match the background color. You draw a colored rectangle and place your white figures on top of that, and print on white film, than try to blend the decal into the base paint.
This works ok with a simple solid color, but for a shaded or patterned background like you have on there, there is one more approach-
photograph the model without the decal, closeup where the decal needs to be, and as square to the camera as possible, import the picture into your graphic program, crop away as much as possible and place your white figure on top of that, then print that on white paper. I havent attempted this last method myself, but ive seen it done by others with good results.
