Cutting it fine but I have a 1/48 Hawker Fury dated 1980 and a Hannover CL111 (1967) and a DUKW (1963) in the stash, however, if I can find one of the three 1/72 boats 73ft Vosper S1-S10 Schnellboot or the RAF ASRL I will do one of those (1973 -1977).

I noticed it said they added new parts in the 2008 boxing, from reviews it seems like they added some propeller and radome choices and other small things to the newest release. The original tooling is from 1960 though so it should be eligible.

If time and schedule allows I will try and get a model done. Either a Bf 109F or a Ju 87B and they do fit into the time parameter this time around.

Cool, then that's my kit selected. I did a bit of digging around and found that the Israeli decals were in the Dogfight-Doubles pack along with an Egyptian Mig-15. They got this set out very quickly. The dust had barely settled when it hit the shelves!

Not sure if the stand alone kit ever had the option. I've also never seen photographic evidence of the IDF using the combined MATRA pod/fuel tank, so its to the spares box for stores.

As tempting as that may be, I think it would take a braver soul than me to tackle the ye olde Mig-15. I did one a few years back as practice for natural metal schemes and it ended up being more hassle than it was worth. Thank the gods they had the sense to retool that one recently. Now if only they'd do the same for the Mirage?
I could always try to squeeze in the Pup if all goes well.

This will be my build.

With decals from DP Caspers Operation Moked sheet.

This sets well worth getting and has markings for 20 aircraft! As well as Israeli we also have a nice selection from the Arab air forces.

I also have the Isradecal set for the Mirage, which theoretically should allow any Mirage in IDF service to be built. I'll be saving those for the day I can get a much better Mirage than the Airfix offering, but it does give me the option of different serials.


Really looking forward to this one.

They are, and quite expensive. I think the Moked set is now out of production which is a real shame. I could also do one of the Hunter's as I have the old airfix in my stash too.

Hi Jessie,
I would like to enter this but the time scale is starting a bit late for me as the model I wish to build I am hoping to finish to display on my trade stand at Telford, which is in November. The model is the Airfix 1/24 scale Stuka and I will be producing masks for the snake scheme; there is no way that I could complete it in just over a month.

Can I join but start the model now? I guess that is not the form so I will happily (not really but rules is rules ) not join but maybe I can piggyback the campaign and show the in progress pics and, hopefully the finished build, when the campaign starts? I wouldn't expect a ribbon of course

Hi Chris, yes I read the posts but you said that you were using Montex masks However I have the snake drawn and test cut, but I have not tested it in the airframe yet. I just have to do the rest of the markings to do which would take long. To be honest it will be very difficult for me to get the Stuka done by Telford and I was hoping to use the campaign to help force me a long but the start date is a bit too far away so I might just try the Amorama campaign, but it would be quite the same! Mmmmm, then again building a ground attack aircraft on a target forum does have its appeal

Adfter Van mentioned the campaign on Armorama I took a look at other campaigns here on Aeroscae and I have joined the "Hanger Queen" campaign as the Stuka is actually started but stalled, so that seems like a perfect place.

Sorry for taking up space here but I will still be posting pics and you can have any for Aeroscale when its done if you like. Chris, the snake masks will still be available if you still want them

Sure Mal I'm interested, send me a PM with the details. I wasn't sure if the Montex masks were available I've since been assured they are. I would of course like to use yours as I love the results I got with the set for the Fw190.

Unfortunately the new MiG-15 may say MiG-15 on the box but you don't get anything resembling an actual MiG-15 in the box. The old kit was far more accurate than the new one, with the new one being far too long (as in a fuselage that is the length of a MiG-17, several feet longer than an actual MiG-15). It's by far the biggest dud of the Hornby-era releases.

And yet the old one is in the ballpark dimensionally, the new one is a much nicer kit, but the fuselage in no way resembles a MiG-15. The problem isn't minor, the Airfix fuselage is over 1cm longer than it should be

That's a comparison with the generally accurate HobbyBoss kit (which is a little skinny in the rear and the wing roots are a little too far forward, but otherwise pretty good).

The old kit is no gem, but it's at least in the ballpark dimensionally. The new one is wildly inaccurate, the fuselage length is off by around 10%. The irony is that Airfix IMHO produced a nicer looking aircraft as the result is somewhat sleeker than the stubby MiG-15.
