Having just completed Ancient Airfix, our builders are much in favour of Airfix II: The Wrath of Humbrol. This time I'd like to open up the timeline just a little, to include kits released until 1980. This gets us a few of the nicer kits which were released in the late '70s. Multipose figures, two different Westland Whirlwinds, RAF rescue launch, several 1/12 figures, Jaguar, Lynx, Me-163, dinosaurs, and much more.

Jess,

Count me in too, I like the idea of moving forward in time as well to cover the 80's maybe even up to 1989 as this would also cover the airfix buccaneer S-2B kit which I would like to do, but also includes the tornado F-3, Lightning F-3, 1/48 harrier GR.3, sea king, hercules gunship, hunter fga.9 etc etc all good kits. This period also covers a wide range of star wars kits and ships, vehicles etc

Rich

P.S. on a sentimental note, the airfix hawker hunter FGA.9 was the first model I ever made!

I'm in even if I'm still stumbling thru the last one. I'll have to find the old stash list to so what I've still got.

Didn't get a chance to participate in the last one but I am thinking of contributing my Fokker F-27 Friendship or Ford Trimotor.

Jessie,
I will definitely participate again. So many kits.... what to choose? I'm leaning toward something railwayish again. A water tank and engine shed would help finish my layout extension.

I'm in and I've decided to do something a mite more challenging this time. Anybody for a 1/24th scale Stuka?

...and that's our ten! Our proposal has been submitted. Let's keep the discussion healthy to keep the interest level up

Is your Stuka the one with the big snake on the side?

Actually no Jess it isn't but I was toying with the idea of making it into one as long as the actual type fits. The bird is certainly large enough to make painting the markings a good option. The two marking options are for machines used in the battle of Britain and North Africa (Will have to check ) and the campaign rules allow for aftermarket decals etc? Actually I must read what the rules and regs are.

The proposed rules are substantially the same as Airfix I: Aftermarket decals are allowed, as well as some scratchbuilding/aftermarket to replace horrid or missing kit details.

Given the scale of the proposed aircraft that would and could be a lot! Am I able to add photo etched seat belts (I believe the answer is yes I just wish to confirm)? As other than replacing the instrument panel I'll pretty much scratch everything else. Does anyone know if the snake decals are available in 1/24th scale?

Okay after a little research I've found that Montex make a mask set to paint exactly this camo scheme! Now the search begins!

I certainly enjoyed Airfix 1`. Just way too campaigned out for Airfix 2.
Although, if I did go with it, it would only be during the peak modeling months, which translates to the dead of winter.

That's probably when the campaign will run. I set the start date for October 1, but the mods may slip it a month or so depending upon what else may be starting around then.

I'm in. Always like building Airfix, old or new.

I guess Airfix 3: The Heller Years will be next ;-)

Hi Guys and gals just a quick note to ask a question which is this; my 1/24th scale Airfix Stuka (one of them at least) is missing the Rubber tires does anyone know of a replacement set of resin ones?

I don't know of any direct replacements, but what about trying some of the parts for R/C airplanes? Some of the tail wheels available might be the right size for a big Stuka, especially since much of the wheel will be hidden in the spats. If that doesn't work, try the Airfix parts replacement department. According to James May they've got most of the Airfix kits ever produced stored in there.

Hi Jessica thanks for the suggestion about the RC planes I'll look into it. I've already talked with Airfix regarding the canopies for this kit which were missing and which they have very promptly replaced so I am a little reluctant to go back and ask for replacement tires but I suppose it's worth a try at least. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say a BIG thank you to Airfix who have as far as this modeller is concerned one of the best spares replacement services out there! I'm missing canopies and engine sprue's from a couple of Trumpeter kits (1/32nd scale Eurofighter Typhoon missing tyres engine and clear sprues. 1/72nd bear H missing clear sprue.) And informed by the local Trumpeter importer that it'd cost me more than a new kit to purchase just the missing sprues. If I want replacement parts then I need to go through the LHS I bought the kit from. A little hard when the shop is on eBay and I knew that the clear sprues were missing at the time of purchase. (I was hoping to find vac formed replacements for them but no luck so far! ) The seller has been helpful in the extreme and quite apologetic about the issues, but no luck with the missing parts so far. So if anybody has any ideas regarding replacement Trumpeter sprues I'm all ears! LOL okay I promise I'll stop whining now!
