OK! Jessie, you hooked me I just cannot stay away from a vac build. Loved em back in the 1970's & 80's and still have an EAGLES TALON La-7 too far to use for this campaign so I will start looking for a kit. Enlisted!

Jonathan, those 11 months are just a couple of nights of sleep then it will be here before you know it.

I had been looking for a vac kit for this campaign since finding it and finally had to go to evilbay today and found two kits (1/48 Vac Wings Vought SB2U VINDICATOR & 1/48 FALCON VAC-FORMED MODEL KIT LAVOCHKIN LA-5FN ) and purchased them.

I have word this week itself that a number of Welsh 1/144 kits will be on their way to me soon, quite a nice variety too.
Ive been waiting 8 months, so 10 more is no hardship!

Jonathan, 8 months? ouch! I hope the quantity and quality outweigh the wait.

I just love Welsh models. It's a one man show, as far as I can tell, so life being what it is, I'm content to roll with it. Anyway, i understand it was not his shop but a third party supply contract that caused the hold up.
Most of his catalogue is still aircraft models that cant be had any other way, and thats the stuff that interests me most.
the Dornier 228 for example.



Anyway, its not like I dont have other stuff to keep me busy in the mean time

All the kits in your oics are vac & resin or vac only, but mine are a full resin kit...

Is this allowed...? Can I build a full resin kit for this campaign..?

Having recently bought a vac how can I not join in the fun?
I'll be in with Joystick Models 1/72 Albatros J.1.




Its a cleanly molded little model and includes decals for a wartime German and post-war Polish aircraft. The struts will be a challenge, and that's putting it as politely as I can.

Just remembered I've also got a Rareplanes Vac A-3 Skywarrior I'm itching to build. Quite a large even at 1/72 and it has optional parts to build either an A-3, KA-3, EA-3 or an RA-3. With some ingenuity and further scratching I believe an EKA-3 is also possible. Only downside is a lack of decals. I'm giving some though the three tone grey or all-black RA-3's operated by VAP-61.

It looks a decent size even at 1/144! Your fortunate yours has decals. I've found them practically non-existent at 1/72.

Just a reminder here, but there's still no ribbon loaded for this campaign. Always a good idea to have a flashy ribbon, it can drive enlistment!

We decided on the ribbon design so long ago I forgot that nobody actually added it to the campaign page. I've since corrected that little oversight

I remember the ribbon and its discussions. Looks great. I might put my Cosmopolitan in Trans Canada Airlines livery instead of the RCAF. That is if it is allowed by the rules because I think it might be a "What If" livery, I am not sure if TCA flew the Cosmo.

I hadn't made the rule explicit so I just went and did so. "What-if" schemes are allowed

A TCA Cosmo is just the thing to take from Tronna to Winterpeg.

Well, this sounds kinda neat. All you experten showing us Neophytes how it's supposed to be done.

I've got a couple of vacs in the stash, an Airmodel? 1/72 XF5U and a Rare Planes 1/72 SB2U. Given the shape of the XF5U, I'm considering the SB2U as a first try. But are these decent starting places or should I go fishing for a more cooperative sample?
