Martin,
The Encore/Roden kit is a very nice one, so that should help. I'm still trying to come to grips with the best way to do the streaky paint job. Do you have a plan yet?

Well, can't say this one was a huge success, but congrats to those who finished! Ribbons have been awarded so if you didn't get one let me know. For those who didn't finish, there's always
The Canvas Falcons III!

Hi Michael,
yep thinned olive drab and as far as I can remember painted diagonally on the wings rather than just strait front to back.
several tin coats should do the trick I think. We shall see.
Cheers

Hi guys,
Holy guacamole! You started big, boys
Let me join with ongoing (lately not going) build of Fokker E.IV 163/16, flown by Kurt Student. When finished, what I hope to happen during holiday season, I will add one more build - not decided yet.

Count me in.
Not sure what I'll build yet but I'm bound to have a few different kits that will fit.
And I will try to complete this one.
Seems that we have the same problem
let us know with your selection soon

I hope to break my fear of rigging with this one!
I will start the build at this end of the campaign instead of the last few weeks at the end!
This is going to be nice one!
U sure it will fit in the garage tho?

HiGuys
Like some of you I missed Falcons II but I'm in for this one with an Encore Fokker Dr 1 in Werner Voss's colours together with Model Cellar figure of the man himself. Looking forward to an interesting campaign. Happy thanksgiving to you guys on the other side of the pond.
Cheers
Martin
Wow! This is a very nice selection - will follow for sure.
Have nice one!

First sub assembly (Clerget 130hp 9b) of Triplane completed:
I did add copper wiring as per instructions. It looks bit thick on photos but is quite fine in person.
Next I'll try to tackle cockpit. Instruction's photos of Shuttleworth Collection's Triplane cockpit look tremendously useful (colours, etc), and there's quite lot of interior rigging "required". But not in hurry with this model...

My progress so far for this campaign.
Started with a Fokker Dr. 1.
Albatros Dr.1. Started way back in Holland 4 years ago. Cleaned it and rebuild the kit.
Third one came in last week. Together with a lot of more fun to come. But for this campaign 3 will be enough I think.
Started the very nice and big CSM Salmson Moineaux. Scratch building the inside from plans. It is a start, but I'm confident with the way it goes.
That's it for now. I really enjoy this and found my way back to the workbench (hurray hurrays can't wait for the holidays).
Have a nice day, for what is left of it.
Kind regards,

Cockpit is pretty much done:
I took a shortcut with bracing and glued them on outsides of cockpit framing. There are two levels: the large stand-alone frames and small hatch-like framing molded on cockpit sides. The diagonal bracing is between those two, and fit was quite tight. Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues with engine cowling.
I'm working on fuselage top, and initially fitting it between wing spars seems to be interesting task. Not much room.

Hi all-
Having just finished a different campaign, and having missed Canvas Falcons II, I thought I'd get in with the build I originally wanted to do for CFII - a Wingnuts Fokker E.II. I may be pushing the specific time period for CFIII, but wanted to try a monoplane with rigging as my next step in 1/32 WWI aircraft (previously did a WNW Fokker D.VII and a Pup).
I started some cockpit painting and assembly here over the holidays - I'll get some close-ups once progress moves ahead, but wanted to at least show the start.
Regards-
Tom

Nice work so far everyone and welcome Tom! The years are a guideline more than a requirement, so have at it.
I've an idea forming in my head for this one. I just finished the Hobbycraft 1/32 Sea Fury for the Cold War campaign:
The Sea Fury was Hawker's and the Royal Navy's last piston engined ship born fighter.
Now, as I'm sure everyone here knows, Hawker was the successor company to Sopwith (both owned largely by T.O.M. Sopwith). So, as a companion to the Sea Fury, how about Sopwith's and the Royal Navy's FIRST piston engined ship born fighter:
Even the paint schemes are similar!
What do you think: a good idea or hopelessly convoluted (as many of these ideas of mine are)?

Hi Michael,
Cool stuff
And I think You might have stumbled on a kinda groovy Campaign subject - Naval Aviation
Might be divided into 3 or 4 consecutive eras (early - WWII - cold war - modern).

Michael- I like the Royal Navy "bookend" idea! A book end campaign would also be a good idea - other than the pesky part where I usually struggle to complete ONE build, much less two!
I made some progress on my WNW Fokker E.II:
(hey - where'd that hair come from?!?!)
I used HGW fabric belts for the first time - and I am SOLD. Yes, it took a bit of time to assemble, but it was so much easier to get them placed on the seat and I think they look more natural. Feedback welcome!
Test fitting shows that I may have similar problems to my WNW Fokker D.VII - the fuselage doesn't want to neatly close around the cockpit assembly. Kit tolerances are VERY tight. I may have to sand some things down.
Onward-
Tom D

Tom,
Nice work! WNW has a reputation for very tight engineering, a coat of paint can screw things up. I know people who have measured where interior framework will go and mask it off before painting the insides of the fuselage!
I did a campaign sort of like bookends a couple of years ago called Then and Now. People seemed to like it but getting two kits done to the same theme was tough, even though it went for a year. Had the same issue with the Duel campaigns. So I understand completely.

Hi
I'd like to join with a very simple pure OOB build of von Richthofen's Fokker Dr.1 in 1:72 scale by Revell that I recently found in my late dad's stash. I'm new and not very skilled (yet), so I think this will be challenging enough for me.
I've actually started on it on Friday already, because somehow I did not notice the new edition on the Canvas Falcons campaign, otherwise I would have signed up first. I only got about 15 minutes on it so far anyway. Now the problem is that this is my lunch break project in my office, I don't have a lot of tools here and can only spend about 20 minutes a day on this. I'm afraid the end result might be rather bad. If I'm not happy with my model, I will not apply for the ribbon, I treat this purely as an opportunity to learn something new. Another problem is that I might have trouble taking pictures, as I don't have a camera at work and my phone is an ancient indestructible pre-smartphone-era Nokia piece that is only good for ringing and texting. It has a camera, but I think washing machine would take better pictures. I will try to take a photo of what I have on my desk but will only be able to upload it when I get home.

Needed something to hold me over while I got things together for the Pearl Harbor campaign and until the Airfix IV starts and remembers I had this Pfalz DIIa that I picked up a while ago so figured now is a good a time as any to build it. Its going to be another out of the box build, or rather out of the bag, but if the fit on the wings are better then the last biplane I built might try some rigging.

was able to get most of the Mercedes D.III engine built and painted. I deviated from the instructions a bit as they would have you just paint it in the aluminum and gun metal but looking at pictures show some of the engines with copper and brass components unpainted and I feel makes the engine a little more striking. The fit for it was alright but didn't line up on some of the details but as they will not really be seen once the engine is added to the nose I didn't worry to much.

I have never built a biplane so this is going to be an experience.
